That is why our funding allows local authorities the freedom to design the services and support required in their local areas, including bespoke support to specific vulnerable groups such as women, LGBT individuals, people with complex needs or young people where this is needed. Our Rough Sleeping Initiative, which is supported by over £547 million, funds a range of local schemes around the country including women’s only services, bespoke support for young people, and Housing First projects for people with complex needs.</p><p>We are also investing £200 million through the Single Homelessness Accommodation Programme (SHAP) and £433 million through the Rough Sleeping Accommodation Programme (RSAP) to deliver homes and support services for people sleeping rough or at risk of sleeping rough. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 28/02/2024 answer text <p>If homelessness cannot be prevented or relieved the local authority may owe the applicant the main duty to accommodate people who are homeless through no fault of their own, are eligible for assistance, and have a ‘priority need’. This primarily includes those with children or a vulnerability, including disability or mental ill-health. The Homelessness Code of Guidance, to which local authorities must pay regard, contains advice for assessing vulnerability.</p><p>The Domestic Abuse Act 2021 gives those who are homeless as a result of being a victim of domestic abuse priority need for accommodation secured by the local authority.</p><p>Temporary accommodation is an important way of ensuring no family is without a roof over their head. Local authorities must ensure temporary accommodation is suitable and should keep the suitability of accommodation under review. The provision of support to households placed in temporary accommodation is essential to ensure that they can continue to enjoy a reasonable quality of life and access the range of services they need. In formulating their homelessness strategies, housing authorities should consider what arrangements need to be in place to ensure that households placed in temporary accommodation, within their district or outside, are able to access relevant support services.</p><p>Government is committed to reducing the need for temporary accommodation by preventing homelessness before it occurs. That is why we are investing more than £1 billion through the Homelessness Prevention Grant over three years, giving councils the funding they need to prevent homelessness as well as helping households move out of temporary accommodation into settled homes. Sponsors are eligible for an optional ‘Thank You payment’ of £350 per month per address, for the first 12 months of a Ukrainian guest’s stay in the UK and £500 thereafter. A proportion of the tariff was always intended to fund homeless prevention for the small proportion of sponsorships that fail or Ukrainians who are unable to find housing. We also launched the Local Authority Housing Fund, details of which are available online.</p><p>On Homelessness, as of 15 February 2024, 820 households are in temporary accommodation.
