answer text
We have noted the recent reports of mass DNA collection in Tibet, which we have discussed with NGOs. We continue to urge China to respect all fundamental rights across the People's Republic of China, including in Tibet, in line with both its own constitution and the international frameworks to which it is a party. On 14 June, a concerted UK lobbying effort helped to secure the support of a record 47 countries for a statement at the Human Rights Council that highlighted the human rights situation in Tibet and called on China to comply with obligations with regard to the protection of human rights.
more like this

answer text
While most countries have now relaxed Covid restrictions, China continues to operate a "zero-Covid policy" across the whole country which frequently results in large scale lockdowns in response to relatively low numbers of cases.

More broadly, we continue to monitor the ongoing human rights violations in Xinjiang. In response the UK has led international efforts to pressure China to change its behaviour. We have imposed sanctions, led joint statements at the UN, taken action to tackle forced labour in supply chains, funded research to expose China's actions, and consistently raised China's human rights violations at the highest levels in Beijing.
more like this

answer text
The UK condemns the widespread violence and conflict across Myanmar, which has resulted in a major humanitarian crisis. We call on the military to exercise restraint and respect international law. We continue to work with international partners, including at the UN, G7 and ASEAN, to try to bring an end to the crisis. The UK has imposed targeted and coordinated sanctions and is working with international partners to tackle the flow of arms to Myanmar. We have also used our leadership role in the UN and G7 to secure strong statements condemning the crisis.

The UK opposes the use of the death penalty across the world and advocates its abolition. Following the announcement of the execution of four pro-democracy and opposition leaders on 25 July, we issued a joint statement with our allies in the EU, US, New Zealand, Australia, Japan, South Korea, Canada and Norway, and coordinated a UN Security Council Press Statement, to condemn the regime's actions in the strongest terms.
more like this

The Foreign Secretary carefully considered the Bermuda Cannabis Licensing Bill 2022 and concluded that it is contrary to the UK's and Bermuda's obligations under the UN Conventions, which prohibit the legalisation of cannabis for recreational use. The UK is responsible for the Overseas Territories' compliance with international law, and assent was not therefore given.
