answer text <p>The Social Investment Tax Relief (SITR) was introduced in 2014 to encourage risk finance investments in qualifying social enterprises and charities. HMRC statistics show that up to 2018-19, about 110 enterprises have used the scheme to raise £11.2 million.</p><p> </p><p>The Government keeps all taxes and reliefs under review in order to ensure they continue to meet policy objectives in a way that is fair and effective. The Government previously published a Call for Evidence on SITR’s use to date. A response to the consultation will be published in due course and a decision on SITR’s future will be announced at the Budget ahead of its sunset clause in April 2021.</p> more like this

answer text <p>To support individuals and businesses to deal with the challenges created by coronavirus during this winter, the Government is providing additional support to help employers retain their employees through the Job Support Scheme. The scheme will open on 1 November 2020 and run for 6 months. answer text <p>The Government is committed to tackling tax avoidance and evasion at all levels in order to ensure that everyone, no matter who they are, pays the right amount of tax at the right time.</p><p> </p><p>Since 2010 the Government has taken significant action, including introducing over 120 new measures tackling tax avoidance, evasion and other forms of non-compliance. This action has secured and protected over £220 billion that would have otherwise gone unpaid, helping to reduce the avoidance tax gap from £3.7 billion in 2005 to 2006 to £1.7 billion in 2018 to 2019.</p> more like this

However, HMRC do not make regional estimates of the tax gap related to tax avoidance.</p><p> </p><p>As part of the 2020 Measuring the Tax Gap publication, HMRC estimated that £1.7bn of tax liability was unpaid due to tax avoidance in the 2018-19 financial year, reduced from £3.7bn in 2005-06.</p><p> </p><p>HMRC are committed to bearing down on tax avoidance wherever it occurs.</p> more like this
