This confirmed proposals to increase the maximum penalty for causing death by dangerous driving and causing death by careless driving while under the influence of drink or drugs from 14 years’ imprisonment to life, and to create a new offence of causing serious injury by careless driving. Vehicles with non-UK registration numbers are identified during this survey. This information has been used to produce estimates of the number of foreign-registered vehicles in the UK and the latest available figures can be seen at: <a href="http://www.gov.uk/government/statistical-data-sets/tra32-foreign-registered-vehicles-in-traffic" target="_blank">www.gov.uk/government/statistical-data-sets/tra32-foreign-registered-vehicles-in-traffic</a>.</p><p> </p><p>Foreign registered vehicles that are brought temporarily into the UK are normally exempt from registration and licensing requirements for up to six months in any twelve month period, as long as they comply with the requirements of the home country. Once this exemption period has passed or the keeper of the vehicle becomes resident in the UK, the vehicle must be licensed and registered here.</p><p> </p><p>The Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency works with the police to enforce against foreign registered vehicles that have overstayed the exemption period. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 05/02/2018 answer text <p>All vehicles must meet strict emission standards before they enter use and emissions from private cars are then checked at the annual MoT for cars of 3 years age and older.</p><p> </p><p>Smoky lorries and buses can be reported by telephone via DVSA’s national number, online via GOV.UK or by sending an email. DVSA will then send a letter to the registered keeper of the vehicle as recorded on the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency’s database. The letter is also copied to the remote enforcement office at DVSA. The operator is then required to undergo an emissions test and submit the results to DVSA’s enforcement team.</p><p> </p><p>The Government currently has no plans to extend the ability to report suspected excessive lorry and bus exhaust emissions to private cars and motorcycles. BSOG is a grant paid to operators of eligible bus services and community transport organisations in England to help them recover some fuel costs. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 18/12/2017 answer text <p>We have interpreted ‘smart signs’ to be electronic variable speed limit signs and the large variable message signs mounted on overhead gantries or on the verge for displaying information to drivers on smart motorways.
