answer text
The Government has no plans to bring forward legislative proposals to ban tolls on river crossings. It is Government policy that those who benefit from the significant improvements that estuarial crossings bring should help to pay for them. Successive Governments have taken the view that tolls are justified when private finance enables key road infrastructure such as significant river crossings to proceed and to be maintained.
more like this

answer text
Highways England do not hold data in the requested format. On Smart Motorways, speed limits below the national limit are set dynamically to smooth traffic flows or manage incidents so the length of 40mph or 50mph zones changes all the time. When Highways England are undertaking improvements or maintenance works, it is sometimes necessary to set a temporary speed limit below the national limit. Details on live traffic information can be tracked on Highways England’s Traffic England Website http://www.trafficengland.com/ and upcoming roadworks are available on https://roadworks.org/ .

more like this

answer text
The Department’s assessment of the business case for the Crossing, which included a consideration of the overall effects of tolling levels on road users, showed that the new Crossing will reduce congestion and improve journey times for users. Tolling levels for the new Mersey Gateway Crossing are the responsibility of Halton Borough Council. Any assessment of the local impact of these tolls is therefore a matter for the Council rather than this Department.
more like this
