answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 16/12/2016 answer text <p>The Government does not keep data on water mills.</p><p>The majority of hydro capacity in Great Britain was installed in Scotland in the first hydro revolution in the 1950s, with a smaller amount installed in Wales. The majority of these installations are still operating. In 2015, it was estimated that there were 1,065 operational plants with a capacity of 1,750 Megawatts, generating 6 Terawatt hours (equivalent to 1.8% of UK electricity supply)[1].</p><p>The Government does not monitor the condition of existing hydro power plants in the UK. By comparison 15% of domestic standard electricity customers and 14% of domestic gas customers in England and Wales combined paid for their energy by pre-payment meter. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 15/12/2016 answer text <p>The Department commissioned a report from Atkins into the greenhouse gas implications of underground coal gasification to inform Government policy about its development in the UK; this report was peer reviewed by academics and industry representatives.</p><p>The report finds that emissions from underground coal gasification would be too high to be consistent with our commitment to a low-carbon future, and would not accord with our recent ratification of the Paris Agreement.
