answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 09/10/2018 answer text <p>The traffic management arrangements on the A1, including the reduced speed limit and narrow lanes, have been designed to minimise the impact of the A14 Cambridge to Huntingdon scheme on road users by keeping the existing number of lanes open wherever possible. Temporary speed restrictions will remain until the A1(M) from Brampton Hut to Alconbury is opened in Summer 2019.</p><p> </p><p>Traffic management is only applied during roadworks when it is absolutely necessary for the safety of road users and the workforce. At times it is necessary to close the A1 between Alconbury and Buckden, in which case a diversion route is put in place utilising the A14 Spur and the A1198/A428. These closures generally take place overnight between 9pm and 6am the following morning when the road is less busy. However, if the overnight works are completed ahead of schedule, Highways England will re-open the road early.</p><p> </p><p>Highways England continue to work closely with Cambridgeshire County Council, the local highway authority, and the police to address any negative impacts whilst the diversions are in place. Monthly meetings are held to address concerns raised by residents. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 18/09/2018 answer text <p>The Government is committed to making sure that the courts have sufficient powers to deal with driving offences appropriately and proportionately, and that offences and penalties continue to act as a deterrent.</p><p>On 16 October 2017, the Government published its response to a consultation on driving offences and penalties relating to causing death and serious injury. The response confirmed proposals to increase the maximum penalty for the offences of causing death by dangerous driving and causing death by careless driving whilst under the influence of drink or drugs, from 14 years to life and to create a new offence of causing serious injury by careless driving. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 13/09/2018 answer text <p>In May this year, the Government amended the Air Navigation Order to restrict drones from flying above 400ft and within 1km of an airport boundary. These measures came into effect in July this year. The amendments also introduced the registration of all drone operators with drones of 250g and over, as well as competency tests for remote pilots of drones of 250g and over. These will come into effect in November 2019.</p><p> </p><p>The Government is currently consulting on measures to be included in a draft Drones Bill such as greater police powers against the misuse of drones and proposals for regulating and mandating the use of safety ‘apps’ and counter-drone technology. This data includes feedstock and country of origin at:</p><p><a href="https://www.gov.uk/government/collections/biofuels-statistics" target="_blank">https://www.gov.uk/government/collections/biofuels-statistics</a></p><p> </p><p>The latest full year’s verified data is in report 6 from obligation year 9 (2016/17). It shows that 1,541 million litres of renewable fuel was supplied, of which 49 per cent was bioethanol. This is a total of 758 million litres of bioethanol. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 13/09/2018 answer text <p>The numbers of pedestrians killed in road accidents in Great Britain has increased slightly overall since 2010 (from 405 in 2010 to 448 in 2016). However, there has been some fluctuation in the number of pedestrians killed in the intervening years (for example, in 2013 the number killed was lower than in 2010 at 398).</p><p> </p><p>Earlier this year, the Department extended the cycle safety review to consider ways to improve pedestrian safety. Officials are currently analysing responses to the call for evidence, seeking views on ways to make walking and cycling safer while supporting the Government’s ambition to increase take up and use.</p><p> </p><p>In June the Government announced its intention to deliver a more strategic approach to preventing deaths and serious injuries on our roads. The Department has a two-year action plan to address four priority user groups, including young people and older more vulnerable road users, who are at greater risk of being injured as a pedestrian compared to other age groups.</p><p> </p><p>The refreshed statement will be informed by early lessons from the new road collision investigation pilot - a £480,000 partnership between police forces and the RAC Foundation to trial an innovative approach to road collision investigation, carrying out more in-depth, qualitative analysis of the underlying causes of road safety incidents in order to get a better understanding of what is really causing collisions on UK roads.</p> answering member constituency Hereford and South Herefordshire answering member printed Jesse Norman question first answered 13/09/2018 12:30:15 answering member 3991 label Biography information for Jesse Norman

answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 18/09/2018 answer text <p>The Government’s statutory Cycling and Walking Investment Strategy, published in April 2017, set out £1.2 billion of funding available to be invested in measures to increase cycling and walking, including improving infrastructure in England, over the period to 2021.</p><p>Since the publication of the Strategy, the Department has identified additional infrastructure funding for cycling and walking schemes, including around £77 million of support for schemes via the National Productivity Investment Fund and over £7 million to support cycle safety improvements.</p><p>The Government has also announced a new £1.7 billion Transforming Cities Fund which will support a number of cities seeking improve local connectivity, including by boosting cycling and walking.
