answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 14/03/2018 answer text <p>Under the EASA Aircrew Regulation pilots of EASA aircraft are required to hold an EASA licence. However, certain non EASA aeroplane and helicopter licences remain valid until 8 April 2018 to enable a smooth transition to the new requirements. The CAA publicised the requirement when the Aircrew Regulation was adopted and has been actively advising licence holders of this requirement through a variety of channels. Those seeking further information will find it on the CAA website.</p><p> </p><p>All pilots who hold a licence issued under the Joint Aviation Requirements that preceded the Aircrew Regulation and who have a valid medical certificate, without which they cannot fly an EASA aircraft, have now been issued with an EASA licence. This is the vast majority of pilots who hold such licences.</p><p> </p><p>The holders of other licences that wish to fly EASA aircraft will need to convert their licence to an EASA licence. However, there is no obligation on pilots to convert their licences. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 13/03/2018 answer text <p>The Government has announced an end to the sale of all new conventional petrol and diesel cars and vans by 2040, and a key element of the Future of Mobility Grand Challenge in the Industrial strategy is our long term mission to see every new car and van being effectively zero emission by 2040. The Department will provide more details shortly on the actions we are taking to reduce emissions of greenhouse gases and air pollution from road vehicles dramatically, and to bring about our ambition for a future where every road vehicle has zero emissions at the tailpipe.</p><p> </p><p>For diesel cars and vans the relative efficiency of diesel engines compared with petrol engines results in improved fuel economy and lower greenhouse gas emissions per kilometre than from petrol equivalents. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 08/03/2018 answer text <p>Installation of traffic calming measures is the responsibility of the relevant local highway authority.</p><p> </p><p>Traffic calming provides a proven and effective way of saving lives and reducing casualties. Its primary purpose is to reduce vehicle speeds in areas where inappropriate speed is a problem. It plays an important role in improving road safety, and each 1 mph reduction in vehicle speed resulting from traffic calming has been found to reduce accidents by around 5%.</p><p> </p><p>Traffic calming has been the subject of extensive research. The Department publishes advice for local authorities on designing and installing traffic calming, in Local Transport Note 1/07: Traffic Calming, available at <a href="https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/traffic-calming-ltn-107" target="_blank">https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/traffic-calming-ltn-107</a>. The decision on whether to fit them relates to local winter driving conditions, which will vary from region to region and different times.
