<p>UK officials regularly discuss illegal, unreported and unregulated (IUU) fishing
with the Uruguayan Government and it was one of the topics raised during the Uruguayan
President's visit to the UK in May 2022. Managing and maintaining fish stocks in the
Southwest Atlantic is a shared responsibility. The UK is expanding and enhancing our
efforts to manage fisheries sustainably, protect ecosystems and combat IUU fishing
at an international scale through our engagement in regional and international organisations,
including the UN Food and Agriculture Organisation. We will continue to support approaches
that will secure long-term sustainable management of high seas fisheries.</p>
