It is important to ensure that new vehicles such as a e-scooters are built and can operate safely, both for people riding them and for other people using the roads. Whilst e-scooters can be used on private property (with the landowner’s permission), in general it is illegal to ride them on the road. This includes on cycle lanes, or tracks, or on the pavement.</p><p>An information sheet on powered transporters, including electric scooters, and where they can be used is available online at</p><p><a href="http://www.gov.uk/government/publications/powered-transporters/information-sheet-guidance-on-powered-transporters" target="_blank">www.gov.uk/government/publications/powered-transporters/information-sheet-guidance-on-powered-transporters</a>.</p><p>Through the Future of Mobility Grand Challenge, the Department is exploring how new technologies are changing the nature of transport. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 04/03/2019 answer text <p>The Appraisal of Sustainability<a href="https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/appraisal-of-sustainability-for-the-proposed-airports-national-policy-statement" target="_blank">[1]</a> that accompanies the Airports National Policy Statement provides a strategic level assessment of the potential social, economic, and environmental impacts of expansion, including on noise, based on indicative flight paths.</p><p>At this stage, it is not possible to identify the exact noise impacts on specific communities, such as Woking, if expansion proceeds. These will depend on changes to flight paths, which in the UK must be approved through the Civil Aviation Authority’s (CAA) Airspace Change Process. This is a seven-stage process, often taking a number of years between an airport alerting the CAA to a potential change, and the CAA making a decision on whether that change can be implemented.</p><p>This regulatory process will provide further opportunities for people from local communities, such as Woking, to comment on the detailed proposals for new flightpaths.</p><p>Heathrow Airport Limited are currently at the second stage of the Airspace Change Process. In addition, the Procuring for Growth Balanced Scorecard, which is designed to help ensure that major government procurements have a positive impact on economic growth, forms part of the development of the Commercial Cases for our major projects.</p><p>The Department's major projects also hold extensive supplier engagement programmes and these are often regionally based. For example, HS2 Ltd has engaged with over 5,000 businesses, from every corner of the UK, to promote HS2 supply chain opportunities. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 28/02/2019 answer text <p>Preparatory infrastructure works have been conducted by Highways England on the M20 and M26 in Kent as part of contingency traffic management measures, known as Operation Brock. Operation Brock has been designed to ensure that, unlike Operation Stack, the M20 will be kept open and traffic will continue to flow in both directions at times of cross-Channel disruption. As part of this, implementing the contraflow queuing system between Junctions 8 and 9 on the M20 will cost approximately £30 million to build and operate. The works to prepare the M26 for the potential use as a temporary HGV storage area are in the region of £5 million.
