answer text <p>The Department did examine this as part of the wider Blue Badge reform programme but took the decision not to extend eligibility to people with temporary disabilities as this would have put at risk the sustainability of the scheme.</p><p> </p><p>The Department has issued local authorities with advice on how they can use existing powers to provide locally determined parking concessions within their areas such as provision of badges to those with temporary conditions. answer text <p>The current Blue Badge service contract will end on 31<sup>st</sup> December 2018. The Department commissioned work in May 2017 to look at replacing and improving the current service. The detail of the online application process for the new, replacement service will be tested with users, including organisations, and driven by their needs.</p> more like this
