answer text <p>Airports are responsible for the specific arrangements for low-level flightpaths. All proposals to alter these arrangements must follow the Civil Aviation Authority’s (CAA) airspace change process which was revised in 2018, following the publication by the Department of revised air navigation guidance.</p><p> </p><p>This guidance requires airports who are seeking to make alterations to their flightpath arrangements to consult with those communities who may be affected by the proposed changes.</p><p> </p><p>A key requirement set out in the guidance is the need for airspace change sponsors to consider the use of multiple flightpaths to disperse air traffic, as well as undertaking a full assessment of the airspace options they are considering.</p><p> </p><p>The Government continues to encourage airports to work with their local communities to identify possible options that may reduce the overall adverse health impacts arising from aircraft noise.</p><p> </p> more like this

answer text <p>An impact assessment was carried out on the effect of introducing a trailer registration requirement and was published alongside the Trailer Registration Regulations 2018.</p><p> </p><p>The cost to business and private users of large non-commercial trailers was assessed as follows:-</p><ul><li><p>Familiarisation costs estimated at a one-off cost at £7 per trailer</p></li><li><p>Trailer registration fee expected to be no more than £28 (one-off cost) per trailer and since confirmed at £26</p></li><li><p>Registration plate at an average cost of £16 from private suppliers</p></li></ul><p>Trailer users will benefit from avoiding enforcement costs that may otherwise be incurred during international travel. Overall the benefits of the scheme are expected to be much greater than the costs and this scheme has been broadly welcomed by industry.</p> more like this

answer text <p>All drivers must renew their driving entitlement when they reach the age of 70 and at most every three years after that. This provides a timely reminder to individuals to consider their health in the context of driving. To renew their entitlement, drivers must make a legal declaration that they can meet the required standards and confirm whether they have any listed medical condition. Drivers who advise the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency of a relevant medical condition will be investigated and a driving licence will only be issued if they can meet the appropriate health standards.</p><p> </p><p>The Department announced in June 2018 that it has identified older people as one of four priority road user groups which will be included in the forthcoming Road Safety statement and action plan.</p> more like this

answer text <p>Ministers have regular discussions with car manufacturers on a range of issues, including the market for ultra low and zero emission vehicles. The Road to Zero strategy, published in July 2018, sets out the Government’s plans to support the transition to zero emission vehicles.</p><p> </p><p>The Government is investing nearly £1.5bn between April 2015 and March 2021, with grants available for plug in vehicles and schemes to support chargepoint infrastructure. Along with the measures in the Government’s strategy, this adds up to one of the most comprehensive support packages in the world.</p><p> </p> more like this

answer text <p>The Department for Transport announced on 31 January 2019 it was allocating £22.9 million for research and trials on new surface materials for pothole repair. This includes providing £1.6 million to extend an existing trial of the use of plastic roads in Cumbria which is being taken forward by Cumbria County Council, as local highway authority.</p><p> </p><p>As part of this trial, research into both the technology and the environmental impacts of using such materials will be undertaken by Gaist Ltd, the University of Nottingham, the University of Central Lancashire, the University of the Sunshine Coast in Australia, and the University of California, USA.</p><p> </p> more like this
