This means that 1.74 million people on low incomes have been taken out of income tax altogether since 2015-16. This means current and prospective electric vehicle drivers being able to easily locate and access chargepoints that are affordable and secure.</p><p> </p><p>The Government has a number of different grant schemes to support infrastructure roll-out including the Government’s £4.5 million On-street Residential Chargepoint Scheme which assists local authorities with the installation of chargepoints in residential areas. Motorists and businesses can receive grants for chargepoint installation through the Electric Vehicle Homecharge Scheme and the Workplace Chargepoint Scheme. Government is investing £20 million to deliver dedicated chargepoints for electric taxis and £14.2 million for bus recharging and refuelling under the Ultra-Low Emission Bus Scheme.</p><p> </p><p>The Government is also providing £40m through the Go Ultra Low City scheme which will see infrastructure installed in Bristol, London, Milton Keynes Nottingham Dundee, Oxford, York and the North East region and the Charging Infrastructure Investment Fund is made up of £200m new Government investment matched by £200m private investors and will accelerate the roll-out of charging infrastructure.</p> answering member constituency Hereford and South Herefordshire answering member printed Jesse Norman question first answered 19/03/2019 12:10:01 answering member 3991 label Biography information for Jesse Norman

answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 23/11/2018 answer text <p>The Government has vehicle grant funding schemes to assist with the upfront cost of purchasing electric cars, vans, taxis and motorcycles, as well as e-cargo bikes in due course. The development of the used market for electric vehicles will also make them more affordable for more people.</p><p> </p><p>Owners of both new and used electric vehicles are able to take advantage of tax incentives which favour the least emitting vehicles. In addition, they can also benefit from local initiatives, such as free parking in some areas, as well as the Government’s infrastructure grant schemes, such as the Electric Vehicle Homecharge and Work Place Charging Schemes.</p><p> </p><p>Further technology innovation should also bring the price of ultra low emission vehicles down in the long term. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 22/10/2018 answer text <p>Coventry City Council is a member of the West Midlands Combined Authority. Between 2010/11 and 2017/18 the Department for Transport provided the West Midlands Combined Authority (WMCA) with over £386 million to upgrade and improve local highways within the West Midlands area. It has been for the WMCA to distribute this funding to its constituent members such as Coventry City Council.</p><p>The Department for Transport has also directly allocated Coventry City Council over £10 million to upgrade and improve local highways within the City between 2010/11 and 2017/18, in addition to funding for roads which fall within the strategic road network and are managed by Highways England.</p><p>In England, outside London, between 2010/11 and 2014/15 the Department for Transport provided local highway authorities with £4.7 billion for highway maintenance. In 2015 the Department announced a six year funding package for highway maintenance. Between 2015/16 and 2021/22 it is providing local highway authorities in England, outside London, with £6.2 billion for highway maintenance.
