answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 23/04/2018 answer text <p>Following Carillion’s collapse, Highways England re-examined the adequacy of the current tests it carries out in relation to suppliers’ financial viability. Although it concluded that the indicators and processes it is using remain robust, Highways England has increased the resource levels in the team responsible for these finance checks, allowing more suppliers to be considered in depth.</p><p> </p><p>Highways England continues to work with the Department for Transport and other stakeholders to review the process for testing the financial standing of suppliers, and has made clear it will seek to implement lessons and best practice identified as appropriate in the coming months.</p><p><strong> </strong></p> answering member constituency Hereford and South Herefordshire answering member printed Jesse Norman question first answered 23/04/2018 15:28:36 answering member 3991 label Biography information for Jesse Norman

answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 27/02/2018 answer text <p>The Government recognises that there are many potential benefits to be realised from smart transport innovations, across all modes. We also recognise that the Department for Transport has a role to play in ensuring that the most effective innovations are identified and introduced in ways that are legal, safe and maximise the benefits to society.</p><p> </p><p>The Department has a diverse programme of activities underway to fulfil that role. This includes various research projects being funded through Innovate UK, and through the Catapult Centres, and a data discovery project to test whether local transport network planners, operators and users would benefit from local transport data that is more widely shared, accessible and conforms to agreed standards.</p><p> </p><p>The Department is also working with other Government departments, high technology industries, academics and researchers to identify opportunities for collaboration to encourage the use of smart transport innovations. We will consider how best to share the results of this work with local areas in order to support them in using these innovations. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 10/01/2018 answer text <p>Information on the Department for Transport’s gender pay gap for mean and median pay by grade is published by the Office for National Statistics in tables 32 and 33 respectively of the Civil Service statistics publications at <a href="https://www.ons.gov.uk/employmentandlabourmarket/peopleinwork/publicsectorpersonnel/datasets/civilservicestatistics" target="_blank">https://www.ons.gov.uk/employmentandlabourmarket/peopleinwork/publicsectorpersonnel/datasets/civilservicestatistics</a>.
