Both the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) and the Department for Transport continue to closely monitor the situation following the tragic incident in Indonesia.</p><p> </p><p>The safety assessment of the Boeing 737 MAX is the responsibility of the US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), as the national authority of the state of design, and the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA), which is responsible for the safety certification of aircraft types in the EU.</p><p> </p><p>Following the tragic accident in Indonesia last month, the FAA issued an Emergency Airworthiness Directive requiring changes to the aircraft’s flight manuals. This has also been mandated by EASA.</p><p> </p><p>There are no Boeing 737 MAX aircraft in service with UK airlines currently. The WHO report agrees with the ambition to reduce noise and to minimise adverse health effects, but it also emphasizes the importance of policy being underpinned by the most robust evidence available on these effects.</p><p> </p><p>The Government is committed to ensuring that noise is managed to promote good health and quality of life effectively. Between 4 October and 15 November 2018 the Government consulted on the Noise Action Plans, which are designed to manage environmental noise and its effects arising from road, rail and agglomerations (large urban areas). Following a review of the grant the Government announced reduced rates earlier this month, while introducing a new scheme to support the take-up of e-cargo bikes.</p><p>Among other things, the review evaluated the impact of reducing grant rates on vehicle sales using a leading consumer-choice model. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 12/09/2018 answer text <p>The management and maintenance of bridges maintainable at public expense fall under the responsibility of each highway authority as set out in the Highways Act 1980 (as amended). The Department for Transport endorses Well Managed Highway Infrastructure Code of Practice produced by the UK Roads Liaison Group which provides advice and guidance to highway authorities on maintaining their highways, including bridges. This includes advice on investigations and inspections.</p><p> </p><p>Both Highways England and local highway authorities inspection regimes covers all structures, including post tensioned bridges built pre 1992, and takes into account their design, age and likely maintenance needs.</p><p> </p><p>Furthermore, Highways England continues to develop detailed design standards and quality control processes to ensure bridges are designed and constructed to provide safe and comfortable journeys for road users.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p>The Department for Transport has also introduced a bridge inspector certification scheme.
