As part of this initiative dedicated teams will be carrying out in-depth research in selected cases to get a better understanding of what is really causing collisions on our roads. These collisions will be analysed in 3 regions over 3 years and will look at collisions covering a range of modes of travel, including motorbikes. The Road Vehicles Lighting Regulations (RVLR) 1989 permit the use of amber warning beacons capable of emitting a flashing or rotating beam of light to raise awareness of vehicles during recovery operations. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 23/01/2019 answer text <p>The Department has not carried out a study on the effect of speed enforcement in 20mph zones (which have traffic calming measures such as chicanes and speed humps) or on 20mph limits (which have signs only).</p><p> </p><p>DfT guidance recommends that successful 20 mph zones and 20 mph speed limits are mutually reinforcing, i.e. the existing conditions of the road together with measures such as traffic calming or signing, publicity and information as part of the scheme, lead to a mean traffic speed compliant with the speed limit. The Government encourages local authorities, schools and the public to use its THINK! road safety educational campaigns and resources, which cover a wide range of issues.
