answer text <p>In June 2014, the Department commissioned a comprehensive three-year research project into the effects of 20mph limits, including effects on speed, collisions, casualties and modal shift. The research is also considering best practice, road users’ perceptions and effects on the quality of the environment. The research project is expected to be completed in Spring 2018, with the final report published later in the year.</p> more like this

answer text <p>The Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency’s (DVSA) testing facility at Shrewsbury is not currently available for disposal. Although the site has been identified as being surplus to DVSA’s future requirements, DVSA is in the process of securing an alternative service delivery model for those services that are delivered from the site.</p> more like this

answer text <p>The rights of disabled persons and those with reduced mobility when travelling by air are important to the Government, and we are keen to see improvements happen where necessary. We welcome innovative ideas being discussed, such as the campaign “Flying Disabled” that champions wheelchair access to aircraft. The campaign is in early stages, with the industry looking further into the proposal. The Government will follow this work closely.</p><p> </p><p>More widely, the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) is the national enforcement body for disabled passenger rights legislation in the UK. They work closely with the industry and monitor their performance to ensure the service the passengers receive is of high quality. The CAA publishes a report annually in which the UK airports are ranked as “very good”, “good” or “poor” in relation to the services and assistance they provide to disabled passengers and those with reduced mobility.</p> more like this

answer text <p>A preliminary recommendation from the technical group on glare, in which my officials participate, was presented to the UN Expert Group on Lighting in October 2017. Under scrutiny, concerns have been raised, including by the UK, that the recommendation may not adequately address the glare problem. Further evidence was requested which the Department expects to be presented when the subject is discussed again in April 2018.</p> more like this

answer text <p>The Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA) holds technical records for public service vehicles (PSV) which includes the date of manufacture and the date of first registration. However, PSV operators are not required to specify to the Office of the Traffic Commissioner (OTC) where vehicles on their operator licence are geographically based. Neither the DVSA nor the OTC can therefore differentiate between vehicles based in London and England and Wales.</p> more like this

answer text <p>The Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency (DVLA) uses its own ANPR fleet to identify non-compliant vehicles in locations throughout the United Kingdom. The DVLA’s wheelclamping contractor also provides ANPR services which provide geographic coverage across every district in the UK. ANPR equipment is just one of a range of measures the DVLA utilise to tackle vehicle excise duty evasion.</p> more like this

answer text <p>As the chancellor announced at Autumn Budget, half of the Transforming Cities Fund has been allocated to the Mayoral Combined Authorities on a per capita basis to allow mayors to take decisions on their transport priorities.</p><p> </p><p>The remainder of the fund will be awarded to other major cities outside London via a competitive process.
