Fares set by TransPennine Express have not changed since January 2014.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>There have been no recent changes to the Northern Rail fleet.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>From 8 September, Northern introduced an evening peak period for the main cities during which off-peak tickets cannot be used. This will have no impact for season ticket holders. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 23/10/2014 answer text <p>On the 3 September 2014, the Government and Stagecoach South Western Trains (SSWT) announced a £210 million deal for a fleet of new trains to increase capacity on some of the UK’s busiest commuter routes.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>The order for 150 new train carriages will provide capacity for 24,000 additional peak-time passengers every day travelling into London Waterloo by May 2018.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>These new trains will be deployed on suburban routes and will allow a further cascade of rolling stock enabling SSWT to deliver two new peak mainline services from May 2018; one from Woking and one from Basingstoke.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>These carriages are in-addition to the 108 additional carriages secured in 2011/12, which have begun to arrive and are being used to lengthen suburban services trains from 8 to 10-cars.</p><p> </p> answering member constituency Devizes answering member printed Claire Perry question first answered 23/10/2014 11:23:53 answering member 3974 label Biography information for Claire Perry

Further jobs are being created in the construction phase of new and refurbished depots in support of the IEP. In addition, Hitachi Rail Europe also expects to grow its total UK staff from 200 to 1,800 within three years. Hitachi also expects to create hundreds more jobs in the UK manufacturing sector and wider transport supply chain as a result of IEP. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 22/10/2014 answer text <p>Capacity increases across the Great Western franchise include the ongoing conversion of First Class seating to Standard Class on the HST fleet which will provide 3,000 more standard class seats a day for passengers; an increase of 16% in the morning peak (as I stated in the House, “<em>I have sat in the 2,000th seat to be delivered under that programme</em>” (17 Oct 2014: Column 655)), and the electrification of the Great Western main line between London, Oxford, Newbury, Bristol and Swansea, which together with the electrification of the Thames valley branch lines allows capacity increases, through the deployment of new electric powered rolling stock, and the cascade of the diesel powered stock that they replace to non-electrified parts of the network. The Great Western Main Line will be equipped with brand-new Inter-City express trains, which form part of our commitment to provide better, more comfortable journeys for passengers, with over 2000 new carriages being in service across the UK rail network by the end of 2019.
