answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 11/07/2016 answer text <p><strong> </strong></p><p> </p><p>The Steel Council met on the 8<sup>th</sup> June to consider initial recommendations from the Council’s four working groups. The industry chaired working groups cover trade, energy, procurement, and future capability and capacity. The secretariat for the Steel Council, comprising of Gareth Stace from UK Steel and senior representatives from the Department of Business, Innovation and Skills, meet on a regular basis to drive this work forward. All export licence applications are carefully assessed on a case by case basis against the Consolidated EU and National Arms Export Licensing Criteria. A licence will not be issued if to do so would be inconsistent with any provision of the Criteria.</p><p> </p><p>The suspension of licences will be considered by my Rt hon Friend the Secretary of State for Business, Innovation and Skills in circumstances where in the light of new evidence and information it would be considered that a proper risk assessment against the Consolidated Criteria would be difficult. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 05/01/2016 answer text <p>On 14 December, the EU Commission approved our first state aid case - to commence relief from the indirect costs of the Renewables Obligation (RO) and small-scale Feed-in-Tariff (FiT). Eligible companies will be able to apply for compensation in January 2016, once scheme guidance and application forms have been published. The second state aid case - to compensate competitors of eligible Energy Intensive Industries (EIIs) - is currently being considered by the Commission.</p><br /><p>The Government is expected to pay compensation for RO/FiT costs until the exemption is implemented - the aim is to achieve that from 2017-18.</p><br /><p>This is in addition to the £50 million of support the Government has already given to the steel industry to mitigate the impact of climate change policies.</p><br /><p>This relief from energy costs will save industry hundreds of millions of pounds and will give the UK Steel Industry greater certainty around energy costs for the life of the Parliament.</p> answering member constituency Broxtowe answering member printed Anna Soubry question first answered 05/01/2016 16:54:22 answering member 3938 label Biography information for Anna Soubry
