The specific inclusion of development as part of the review demonstrates our commitment to ensuring that the UK’s development, security and foreign policies are complementary.</p><p>The Review will be underpinned by the commitment the Government has already made to spend 0.7% of GNI to international development. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 03/03/2020 answer text <p>In 2018, DFID spent £174.6 million multilateral Official Development Assistance (ODA) to tackle HIV/AIDS. Most DFID investments to the HIV response are now directed through multilateral organisations such as Unitaid, UNAIDS and the Global Fund to fight AIDS, TB and Malaria. In addition, in 2018, DFID spent £10 million bilateral ODA on programmes tackling sexually transmitted diseases including HIV/AIDS.</p><p>The UK has made a £1.4 billion pledge to the Global Fund to fight AIDS, TB and Malaria for the 6th replenishment covering 2020 to 2022. This supports the commitment to end the AIDS epidemic as a public health threat by 2030.</p><p>This data does not capture spend on related programming on comprehensive sexual and reproductive health and rights, including research and health systems strengthening.</p><p>DFID spend data is available on the Statistics on International Development website. Comparable figures beyond December 2018 are not yet available. This includes resurfacing the runway at the John Osborne airport. This action is necessary to prevent the airport from being closed by the regulator, thereby cutting off a key source of access to and from the island.</p><p>DFID is also providing support through the UK Caribbean Infrastructure Fund (UK CIF) managed by the Caribbean Development Bank for improved port facilities in Montserrat. Our reporting is based on internationally agreed Organisation for Co-operation and Development - Development Assistance Committee (OECD-DAC) codes, as part of our commitment to transparent reporting of development assistance in a way that permits international comparisons. We do not currently collect the information disaggregated between physical and mental health as these are not categories within the OECD-DAC codes.</p><p>We are focused on ending the preventable deaths of mothers, new-born babies and children. This is reflected in our departmental strategy papers. Both the Disability Inclusion Strategy and the Strategic Vision for Gender Equality take a life-course approach, ensuring the delivery of transformative change for people all ages.</p><p>We are also supporting governments to make vital social protection systems more inclusive of older people. In Uganda, DFID continues to build on its partnership with the Government of Uganda to deliver a Senior Citizen Grant. They are vital to DFID’s delivery capability, humanitarian response and research effort, and they actively engage with DFID on the international agenda for development, across a range of policy and technical issues. Funding opportunities include the Small Charities Challenge Fund, UK Aid Direct and UK Aid Match. However, a full answer to how much public funding has been given to civil society organisations could only be obtained at disproportionate cost.</p><p>DFID does not fund campaigning, fundraising, or advocacy activities. Gavi has immunised over 760 million children, saving 13 million lives from preventable diseases. The UK is proud to have played a significant role in delivering these extraordinary results.</p><p>Children born to the poorest families, with the lowest levels of education, and living in the hardest to reach areas are the least likely to get vaccinations. Our priority as hosts of the Global Vaccine Summit 2020 will be to help Gavi secure the funding it needs to further deliver its life-saving work. As part of our influencing efforts, the UK will press for new strategies to address the poverty barriers and identify those children who miss out on life-saving vaccines. This includes promoting equitable coverage of immunisation to leave no-one behind and ensure vaccines are available for the most vulnerable. We are making progress against our 2013 N4G commitments as follows:</p><ul><li>DFID has already exceeded its commitment to invest £2.13 billion from 2013 to 2020 in nutrition sensitive programmes – to date we have spent £2.7 billion on this type of programme;</li><li>We have also unlocked the full amount of nutrition matched funding committed in 2013 – this has leveraged £560 million more for nutrition from other donors; and</li><li>We are working to ensure we reach the target to invest £575 million on direct nutrition services by the end of this year.</li></ul><p>DFID officials are working closely with the Government of Japan to prepare for the 2020 Nutrition for Growth Summit. This will be an important opportunity to secure new commitments to nutrition, to set the world on a better track to achieve the Global Goals and to help achieve our ambition of ending preventable deaths by 2030.
