Friend the Secretary of State commissioned Sir John Kingman to lead an independent review of the Financial Reporting Council (FRC), the terms of reference of which included putting the FRC in a position to stand as a beacon for the best in transparency. Sir John reported on 18 December and made a number of recommendations on improving the transparency of the FRC. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 29/01/2019 answer text <p>I am pleased that excellent progress is being made on Made Smarter, the Government’s national industrial digitalisation programme.</p><p> </p><p>The Made Smarter Commission, co-chaired by my rt. hon. Friend the Secretary of State and Juergen Maier brings together manufacturing leaders from across the sector to agree how UK manufacturing can benefit from the development and adoption of digital technology.</p><p> </p><p>The £20m North West pilot will support up to 3,000 manufacturing SMEs to adopt and exploit digital technology. There is a considerable level of interest from SMEs in the North West as well as from other regions. We will work with other regions to share the learning of the North West pilot and consider how the programme could be rolled out.</p><p> </p><p>At Autumn Budget, we announced £121m funding for the Made Smarter Digital Manufacturing Industrial Strategy Challenge Fund, designed to transform the sector’s productivity. Sony have confirmed that they intend to set up a subsidiary in Amsterdam as part of their EU exit contingency planning. As has been widely reported, this will not result in any jobs being lost in the UK.</p><p> </p><p>Department for International Trade teams in the UK and Japan actively promote and support increasing investment and trade between Japan and the UK and will continue to do so after we leave the EU. As part of this, nuclear power as well as other low carbon power technologies have an important role to play in the UK’s energy future as we transition to a low carbon economy.</p><p> </p><p>We regularly compare the impact on electricity system costs of deploying technologies, as well as assessing their impact on energy security, decarbonisation and consumer bills. Direct comparisons of the GMPP across years should therefore be treated with caution. There are currently 20 procurement processes above this threshold that have been let since 23<sup>rd</sup> June 2016 where the contract is expected to be awarded after 30<sup>th</sup> March 2019. There are more procurement processes that have run since 23<sup>rd</sup> June 2016, which have been awarded (or will be awarded before 29<sup>th</sup> March 2019) and will continue to run beyond 29<sup>th</sup> March 2019. However, we do not hold the contract end dates for these procurements until they are signed contracts therefore we cannot provide an exact figure for these. Wylfa and Moorside were not due to become operational until the late 2020s and there are a range of options for generating this capacity over that time-frame. National Grid has stated that there is no issue with the future security of supply. Friend the Secretary of State said to the House on 17 January, the Government will continue to discuss with Hitachi bringing forward new nuclear at Wylfa. He also said that the Government will set out a new approach to financing new nuclear in the planned energy White paper in the summer.
