While the Commission’s remit will not include housing supply directly, the Commission will consider the potential interactions between its infrastructure recommendations and housing supply.
more like this

answer text
This Government is committed to increasing the supply of housing. We have doubled our plans for affordable housing delivery from 2018-19 to £8 billion, to deliver 400,000 affordable housing starts.

It is the responsibility of local authorities to plan and assess the likely housing needs for their areas as part of the process for bringing forward a Local Development Plan. Our planning guidance asks local planning authorities to factor in market signals such as household affordability and land prices, as well as forecast employment trends when calculating their overall housing need. The primary objective of identifying need is to identify the future quantity of housing needed, including a breakdown by type, tenure and size.
more like this

answer text
The Government has taken a range of steps to increase housing supply by providing more homes for rent and ownership, as well as encouraging local authorities to bring empty homes back into use. As a result, the number of homes that stand empty for more than six months is at an all time low. The Government is committed to releasing surplus assets to drive economic growth and release land for housing. The Spending Review announced that departments have committed to release land for more than 160,000 homes.
more like this

answer text
Strong communities, built on a shared set of values, are the foundations of a strong society. Our approach to integration breaks down barriers: emphasising local action and bringing people together; celebrating what we have in common rather than what divides us and protecting and promoting our core values. My Department has spent over £45 million on integration projects since 2010 as part of a more targeted approach - building integrated communities and supporting British values. This includes £12 million in 2014 - 15 to support 30 projects to build integration, reaching over 335,000 people.

more like this
