answer text <p>The number of Army Reserves under Future Soldier is optimal for forecasted future demands. Under Future Soldier plans, the Army Reserve will grow and better integrate with the Regular Army, and the British Army will become a whole force of over 100,000 regulars and reservists.</p><p> </p><p>The total strength of the Territorial Army Group A (trained and untrained) as of 1 April 1998 was 51,100. answer text <p>The UK is in contact with our French partners on their planned changes to operations in the Sahel; we have had assurances France will retain the key enablers which allow the UK to effectively contribute to operations in the Sahel. Through our recent deployment to the UN peacekeeping mission in Mali (MINUSMA), and our programmatic support for stabilisation and conflict resolution, the UK is committed to building peace and stability in the Sahel. We also use our humanitarian assistance to support those most affected by conflict. answer text <p>The use of white phosphorous in smoke grenades, decoy and countermeasure equipment and signalling flares is not prohibited under International Humanitarian Law. Incendiary weapons, including incendiary weapons containing white phosphorous, are governed by Protocol III of the UN Convention on Certain Conventional Weapons (CCW) which prohibits incendiary weapons being deployed against civilians or military targets within a concentration of civilians. Intentionally directing attacks against a civilian population, irrespective of the weapon, is a serious violation of International Humanitarian Law and a war crime under the Rome Statue.</p> more like this

answer text <p>Assessments have been conducted by in-theatre and UK based personnel, which concluded that the vast majority of the interactions in recent months between HMS MONTROSE and the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps were safe and professional. Where there were active attempts to interfere with passage of British vessels, HMS MONTROSE responded within extant military direction.</p><p>The UK has deployed additional warships to the Gulf to ensure a consistent presence to reassure the merchant vessel community, and deter any malign behaviour. The UK has also joined the International Maritime Security Construct (IMSC), under which we will work with partner nations to ensure the free flow of commerce through the region.</p> more like this

answer text <p>​The British Government has noted the recent report from the China Human Rights Organisation and continues to be concerned by restrictions on freedom of religion and belief, including reports of forced conversions, in Burma. The UK, working with the EU and the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation, secured a UN Human Rights Council Resolution on 27 September 2018 that called for the amending or repealing of discriminatory provisions of the &quot;protection of race and religion laws&quot; in Burma covering religious conversion, interfaith marriage, monogamy and population control. Our Ambassador met the Burmese Minister for Religious Affairs on 9 August 2018, and underlined the importance of interfaith dialogue.</p> more like this
