The Secretary of State for Foreign &amp; Commonwealth Affairs, my Rt Hon friend, the Member for Runnymede and Weybridge (Philip Hammond MP) and the Prime Minister, First Lord of the Treasury and Minister for the Civil Service, my Rt Hon friend, the Member for Witney (David Cameron MP) have frequently raised the case directly and at the highest levels of the Ethiopian government, most recently on 8th and 17th August, and will continue to do so. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 14/10/2015 answer text <p>The Government is carrying out a public consultation exercise, seeking the views of Chagossians and other interested parties, about a potential resettlement of the British Indian Ocean Territory. The consultation is scheduled to last 12 weeks, concluding on 27 October. I am pleased that an estimated five hundred Chagossians in the UK, Seychelles, and Mauritius have joined meetings with members of the British Indian Ocean Territory Administration to talk through the consultation document. Though we have been clear that this document is not a statement of UK Government policy, as no decision has yet been taken, it sets out the most realistic hypothetical scenario in which possible resettlements, including a pilot option, could take place. The consultation period will help us understand Chagossians’ aspirations and the level of demand for the options set out. Human rights guidance is a core part of that. The UK National Action Plan for implementation of the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights, entitled &quot;Good Business&quot;, sets out what the Government will do and what it expects of business in respecting human rights throughout their operations.</p><p>The Government is working with the Government of Malawi and British companies to encourage greater bilateral trade and investment. In September 2013 the Government published an National Action Plan entitled “Good Business” setting out how we would implement the UN Guiding Principles and what action we would take to support the principles internationally including by encouraging other states to follow the principles and to publish their own national action plans where possible. The UK, along with our international partners, has underlined that the decision by the Ethiopia-Eritrea Boundary Commission is final and binding. We have made clear to the Government of Eritrea that it must honour its international obligations and that improved respect for human rights is required to help stem the flow of irregular migration.
