A Crossrail Update was also presented to Parliament on 26 October 2018.</p><p> </p><p>A further update on Crossrail was also provided on 10 December 2018 on the funding and financing arrangements for the final stages of the project.</p><p> </p><p>We have committed to update parliament annually, at least, on progress with High Speed 2. The last update was on 11 October 2018 via a Written Ministerial Statement. Network Rail reports that work is 80% complete at the design stage. The delivery of the new connection is subject to both identifying a feasible option and funding being secured for it. Design is expected to be complete in January 2019 and will be followed by estimating activity and completion of the business case in February 2019.</p><p> </p><p>Electrification of the railway between Ore and Ashford forms Phase 3 of the High Speed to Hastings &amp; Bexhill initiative (the railway between Bexhill and Ore is already electrified to 750v DC). Mr Cook is a chartered engineer with more than 40 years’ international experience in the infrastructure, automotive, aerospace and defence industries.</p><p> </p><p>HS2 has made impressive progress in the past 18 months.
