answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 26/11/2018 answer text <p>The government’s Air Quality Grant Programme provides funding to local authorities; funding projects in local communities to tackle air pollution and reduce emissions affecting schools, businesses and residents. Local authorities have a duty to monitor and assess air quality and to take action to reduce pollution where these breach statutory limits, and are best placed to determine local priorities.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>Defra awarded a total of £2.4 million to local authorities in England from the 2017/18 air quality grant fund; £3.7 million was awarded in 2016/17, and £0.5 million in 2015/6. £3 million has been allocated for 2018/19.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>While all measures which reduce air pollution will reduce exposure of children to these harmful pollutants, some projects have elements that are specifically targeted at children. For example:</p><p> </p><p>In 2016-17, the London Borough of Islington were awarded £50k to run a local school focused awareness and engagement campaign through the air quality grant; and</p><p> </p><p>In 2017/18, Spelthorne Borough Council were given £145,188 to run an awareness campaign in schools across Surrey.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>Details of further funding from the Air Quality Grant Programme, including funding specifically directed at children can be found on the Air Quality Grant Programme webpage here:</p><p> </p><p><a href="https://www.gov.uk/government/collections/air-quality-grant-programme" target="_blank">https://www.gov.uk/government/collections/air-quality-grant-programme</a>.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>The Government has also put in place a £3.5 billion plan to improve air quality and reduce harmful emissions, which includes £495 million for councils to improve air quality. Councils with serious air quality problems may bid for a share of these funds. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 03/02/2015 answer text <p>We have made it clear to the liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) industry that it is vital that the benefits of falling oil prices are passed on quickly to consumers.</p><p>We have an open market for LPG in the UK as we believe this provides the best long term guarantee of competitive prices. At the start of 2014 there were 5.2 million small businesses in the UK, an increase of 760,000 since 2010. These small businesses employ 12.1 million people – 48% of total UK private sector employment – and have a combined annual turnover of £1.2 trillion: 33% of the UK private sector total. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 12/02/2015 answer text <p>Overall, the UK has committed £132.5m to the crisis in South Sudan and a further £58.9 million for South Sudanese refugees in the region, making it the second largest bilateral donor after the US. The UK has been an early responder since the start of the crisis in South Sudan, mobilising resources within days of the onset of conflict, and committing resources to the food security response early on to help avert famine in 2014. In response to the 2015 UN Appeal the UK has already allocated over £20 million. Additionally the UK disbursed almost £30 million in December 2014. The timely disbursement of these contributions was to take advantage of the 2015 dry season window; enabling partners to pre-position vital supplies and achieve cost effective transportation allowing more lives to be saved.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>On 9<sup>th</sup> February 2015, at a joint UN Office of Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs and Intergovernmental Authority on Development High-Level Event on the Humanitarian Crisis in South Sudan the UK strongly lobbied other donors to commit early funding in 2015 to the protracted humanitarian crisis and called on the Government of South Sudan to contribute more resources towards meeting the vast humanitarian needs of their people, facilitating unhindered humanitarian access and increasing support for basic services.
