star this property answer text <p>We do not operate a hub and spoke network as such. In line with the FCO’s Consular Strategy 2013-2016, we focus resources on those who need us most and are most at risk. We route calls to all our consular posts overseas to three contact centres in Malaga, Hong Kong and Ottawa. Urgent cases, and those that require local support, are passed to posts across eight consular regions.</p><p>The number and location of our consular posts is based on the number of British nationals travelling and living overseas, and the number and complexity of consular cases. Whilst legal channels remain the best route for contractors to pursue unpaid bills, and officials at our Embassy in Kinshasa are unable to become involved in private legal matters, officials have recently formally contacted the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Kinshasa to draw its attention to an individual case with the aim of highlighting our interest in seeing a timely and fair solution to disputes involving British companies</p> more like this

The Secretary of State for Foreign &amp; Commonwealth Affairs, my Rt Hon friend, the Member for Runnymede and Weybridge (Philip Hammond MP) and the Prime Minister, First Lord of the Treasury and Minister for the Civil Service, my Rt Hon friend, the Member for Witney (David Cameron MP) have frequently raised the case directly and at the highest levels of the Ethiopian government, most recently on 8th and 17th August, and will continue to do so. Following an HMG request Mr Tsege has been transferred to a federal prison, and HMA Addis visited him there on 13 August.</p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>The UK Team of Experts supports the work of national and international bodies and NGOs in preventing and responding to sexual violence in conflict. Each deployment is tailored to local needs and circumstances. Since November 2012 we have carried out 60 deployments to nine conflict affected countries or countries supporting displaced populations. In 2014-15 experts from the team deployed to Bosnia and Herzegovina, Colombia, Democratic Republic of Congo, Iraq, Jordan, Kosovo, Mali and Turkey. Our current plans for 2015-16 include deployments to Mali, the Syrian borders, the DRC and Iraq.</p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>The unrest in the Central African Republic (CAR) has impacted on its neighbours through refugee flows and cross-border violence. The Foreign and Commonwealth Office is aware of reports of rebel incursions spilling over the border from CAR into Cameroon. Approximately 442,495 of CAR’s population have been internally displaced. Approximately 241,231 refugees have fled to Cameroon, 93,120 to Chad, 68,165 to the Democratic Republic of Congo and 21,554 to the Republic of Congo. The Government is working closely with EU and African Union partners ahead of the Valletta Summit in November to develop proposals for action to disrupt smuggling and trafficking networks; strengthen cooperation on returns; and address the root causes of migration, including regional instability.</p> more like this
