Total UK support to the GEF between 2014 and 2018 was £210 million, with DFID providing £168 million and Defra providing £42 million of this amount. Over £4.8 million has been spent by the GEF on the Great Green Wall initiative, 9 percent or £432 thousand of this is funded by the UK contributions. DFID has provided £56 million to build resilience and adaptation to climate extremes and disasters in the Sahel since 2013.
