DFID has a zero-tolerance policy to the diversion of UK aid funds and seeks to minimise the risks to ensure life-saving assistance reaches those who need it most.</p><p>We do this by only channelling support through organisations with a strong record of delivering and monitoring assistance, such as UN agencies and international NGOs. All of DFID’s partners and programmes are also subject to rigorous and regular due diligence to ensure that UK aid goes directly to those who need it most. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 18/02/2019 answer text <p>Tackling climate change is a priority for the UK Government and for the Department of International Development (DFID). The UK has pledged to deliver £5.8bn of International Climate Finance (ICF) from 2016/17 – 2020/21 to help poorer countries tackle climate change. DFID funds are helping to build the resilience of people and communities to cope with climate change already locked in, including to natural disasters; to support the development of low carbon and climate resilient infrastructure; and to support new technology, research and innovation to improve the effectiveness of action on climate change. Since 2011 the ICF has helped 47 million people to cope with the effects of climate change in the developing world, and enabled 17 million to have access to clean energy.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>The UK is also working to increase international action on climate change. One example is the Jo Cox Memorial Grants that will support civil society at the grassroots to empower women to claim their political and economic rights and prevent identity-based violence in DFID priority countries. DFID’s Economic Development Strategy commits the UK to supporting more and better jobs as a means of delivering the Sustainable Development Goals.</p><p> </p><p>DFID is seeking to make continued improvements to the data on both the number and quality of jobs that our initiatives support. The Department is working closely on this with partners including CDC, the World Bank, the ILO and the UK Office of National Statistics. We periodically report updated information on jobs supported by UK development assistance and intend to publish an update in 2019.</p><p> </p><p>DFID encourages suppliers and their supply chains to comply with ILO standards on Decent Work and it supports a number of initiatives that raise job quality and standards by firms that invest in low income countries. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 19/10/2015 answer text <p>Following a request from the Government of the Bahamas the Royal Fleet Auxiliary Lyme Bay was deployed to provide humanitarian assistance to the worst affected of the Family Islands. During its deployment, working in close coordination with the Bahamas National Emergency Management Agency and the Royal Bahamian Defence Force, the RFA Lyme Bay was able to distribute approximately 60 tonnes of emergency stores on behalf of the Caribbean Disaster and Emergency Management Agency (CDEMA) and to provide evacuation, clean-up, repair and other immediate emergency assistance on Acklins Island, Long Island, Long Cay and Crooked Islands. This is a defining development challenge for DFID’s partner countries and is at the heart of building global prosperity and stability that is in the UK’s national interest.</p><p> </p><p>DFID’s 2017 Economic Development Strategy expressly commits us to deliver more and better jobs – seeking to improve job quality progressively and raise standards as countries develop.
