The UK committed at the 2017 Family Planning Summit to focus on adolescents in our sexual and reproductive health and rights programmes. We continue to amplify the needs of adolescent girls through our voice on the world stage.</p><p> </p><p>At the UN General Assembly, the Secretary of State made clear the UK’s ongoing commitment to sexual and reproductive health and rights, announcing an additional £600 million aid package to provide improved access to family planning. Core to the UK's Preventable Deaths agenda, is how we can support low income countries to scale up quality health services. This includes the development of national maternal health policies, support for the delivery of services and work to strengthen health systems, the provision of skilled care at birth, emergency obstetric care, and improving access and quality of medicines. We invest at both the country level and through global programmes. An example is our recent £600m commitment to scale up access to a range of existing and new sexual and reproductive health supplies, which has the potential to expand access to misoprostol.</p><p>We recognise that not all deaths are preventable. Universal health coverage, including access to sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR), is central to these efforts.</p><p>Our health and SRHR programmes aim to understand and overcome the barriers for excluded groups, to ensure that the poorest and most vulnerable within society, including those with disabilities, are able to access services. All our SRHR programmes target adolescent girls. We also work to address the needs of ethnic groups in particular countries.</p><p>At the UN General Assembly in 2019, the Secretary of State for International Development announce funding of £600 million over 2020-2025 that will provide millions more women and girls with access to family planning.</p><p>The Women’s Integrated Sexual Health reproductive health programme uses innovative ways to identify and reach the poorest and most marginalised adolescent girls and women with essential services across 27 countries. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 27/01/2020 answer text <p>The UK is a leading player in global health and is committed to stepping up efforts to end preventable deaths of mothers, newborn babies and children in the developing world by 2030.</p><p>UK aid provides support to strengthen health systems in the world’s poorest countries, including provision of sexual reproductive health services and rights. Where possible an integrated package of sexual and reproductive health services are delivered, including the introduction of certain cervical cancer screening, prevention and treatments in some contexts.</p><p>We are the largest donor to Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance, which supports HPV vaccination programmes in developing countries. Through Gavi support, 30 developing countries have taken their first steps toward HPV roll out, with the aim of vaccinating 40 million girls by 2020. In a conflict context, where the state authorities are unable or unwilling to do this, international accountability mechanisms may be invoked, as appropriate. The UK is clear that no health workers or aid workers should be at risk of violence, and that they must have the protection they need from the responsible authorities to allow them to do their jobs in safety. While we recognise Israel’s right to security, we have repeatedly made clear to Israel our longstanding concerns about the way Israel Defence Forces (IDF) police protests and the border areas in Gaza, including our concerns about the use of live ammunition and excessive force by the IDF. We regularly raise with the Government of Israel the urgent need to ease all access and movement restrictions on Gaza, including for health workers.</p><p> </p><p>The UK continues to strongly support the delivery of humanitarian assistance in Gaza. In 2019, the UK is supporting urgent medical needs through the International Committee for the Red Cross and the World Health Organisation. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 24/10/2019 answer text <p>The UK Government recognises that older people with disabilities experience a range of complex barriers and face multiple exclusions.</p><p> </p><p>DFID’s Strategy for Disability Inclusive Development 2018-23 sets out our vision of a world where people with disabilities at all stages of their lives are engaged, empowered and able to exercise and enjoy their rights on an equal basis with others. The strategy takes a life-course approach, ensuring the delivery of transformative change for persons with disabilities of all ages.</p><p> </p><p>DFID has taken important steps to meet this ambition, including supporting governments to make vital social protection systems more inclusive.
