For example, DFID’s Disability Inclusion Strategy and Strategic Vision for Gender Equality take a life-course approach, ensuring the delivery of transformative change for people all ages.</p><p>We are also supporting governments to make vital social protection systems more inclusive of older people. In Uganda, DFID continues to build on its partnership with the Government of Uganda to deliver a Senior Citizen Grant. The UK’s commitment to Gavi is also central to our work to end preventable deaths of mothers, new-borns and children by 2030.</p><p> </p><p>Gavi’s next strategic period is critically important for the UK as we work together to improve intra-country equity and coverage. Immunisation is often a child’s first point of contact with their health service. By extending routine immunisation to reach the underserved, particularly zero-dose children who have never been vaccinated, Gavi is building a foundation for stronger national health systems. Last year the UK made a £1.4 billion pledge to the Global Fund to fight AIDS, TB and Malaria for the 6th replenishment covering 2020 to 2022. This supports the commitment to end the AIDS epidemic as a public health threat by 2030. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 01/05/2020 answer text <p>The UK is deeply concerned about the surge in violence against women and girls (VAWG) during the COVID-19 pandemic. We are using significant investment and influence within the international system to ensure that women and girls have access to the vital services they need.</p><p>We have already provided £10 million of UK aid to the UN Population Fund and £20 million to UN Children’s Fund to scale up protection and support services for women and girls. We have contributed £20 million of UK aid to the UN High Commissioner for Refugees’s COVID-19 response for refugees and internally displaced people, which includes support for essential VAWG and child protection services. We launched a call for proposals under our Rapid Response Facility, which required all projects to mainstream gender, protection and safeguarding. This year we will also launch a new £67.5 million programme to scale up violence prevention, which is the largest investment by any donor government in programming and research to VAWG globally.</p><p>We are also urgently reorienting existing bilateral programmes to ensure that women and girls can continue to access support during the lockdown. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 27/04/2020 answer text <p>The UK is playing a leading role in the global response to COVID-19, working with our international partners to slow its spread. We are using UK aid to its full effect to counter the health, humanitarian, and economic risks of this pandemic in the developing world. The UK has, so far, pledged £744 million of UK aid to help end this pandemic as quickly as possible. The UK continues to work with international partners, including the United Nations and its agencies, to ensure aid reaches those most in need.</p><p>The UK strongly supports the UN’s Global Humanitarian Response Plan to tackle COVID-19. Our latest UK aid funding of £200 million, announced on 12 April, will enable humanitarian organisations to help reduce mass infections in developing countries that often lack the healthcare systems to track and halt the virus. This funding includes £130 million to UN agencies in response to their COVID-19 humanitarian appeals. We have also allocated £50 million to the Red Cross and £50 million to match funding from Unilever, for a joint project targeting up to a billion people with awareness and behavioural change campaigns to promote handwashing and providing 20 million hygiene items to help the most vulnerable communities protect themselves.</p><p>The UK is also providing up to £150 million of UK aid funding, which will go the International Monetary Fund’s Catastrophe Containment Relief Trust to help developing countries meet their debt repayments so that they can focus their available resources on tackling COVID-19.
