	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 02/05/2024 answer text <p>We have been doing everything we can to get more aid in as quickly as possible by land, sea and air, including conducting airdrops and supporting the establishment of a new maritime corridor.</p><p>However land routes remain the best way to get aid into Gaza at the scale needed. We have welcomed recent commitments from Israel to increase aid flows, including allowing the delivery of humanitarian aid through the Port of Ashdod and the Erez crossing. The UK has long urged Israel to take these steps but we must see further action to ensure more aid actually gets over the border. The Foreign Secretary discussed this with Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu on 17 April.</p><p>We recently announced £3 million of additional funding for equipment to support UN and aid agencies at new and existing land crossings to get more aid into Gaza. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 10/05/2024 answer text <p>The Safety Valve programme is designed to improve special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) services by making the very best use of resources to deliver the support that children and young people need.</p><p> </p><p>The agreements, based on proposals put forward by each local authority, hold local authorities to account for doing so in the most effective and sustainable way for the benefit of children and young people.</p><p> </p><p>The last few years have shown that increased spend does not automatically equate to better outcomes for children and young people; running systems more effectively does. Safety Valve plans generally place emphasis on improving the availability of support in and to mainstream schools, including increasing early access to support, building parental confidence in the system and increasing the availability of local provision. It is only through taking these steps and through the genuine collaboration of all partners locally that high needs systems can be delivered effectively and sustainably for the future.</p><p> </p><p>City of York Council made a Safety Valve agreement in 2021, with the department contributing £17.1 million. The authority agreed to reform their high needs system such that they would subsequently reach a positive in-year balance on its Dedicated Schools Grant (DSG) and eliminate its cumulative deficit by the end of the agreement in 2025/26, while continuing to deliver for children and young people with SEND. The product information for gabapentin, approved by the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA), provides information to support the prescribing of the medication including recommendations for dose, duration of use, as well as gradual reduction when stopping. The Department promotes this through online platforms such as the NHS.UK website, and the Talk to FRANK online resource. Local authorities promote these guidelines as part of their public health duties.</p><p>The Department for Education’s statutory guidance, Relationships education, relationships and sex education and health education, became mandatory in September 2020. The 2016 Public Health England publication, The public health burden of alcohol: evidence review, reviewed effective policies for reducing alcohol harms in countries who are members of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development. Officials in the Department frequently engage with international colleagues, and those in the devolved administrations, to exchange ideas, experience, and evidence when developing new policies.</p><p>The Government was involved in the work by the World Health Organization (WHO) to develop an action plan to strengthen the implementation of the Global Strategy to Reduce the Harmful Use of Alcohol. We were pleased that the action plan was adopted at the 75th World Health Assembly in May 2022. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 07/05/2024 answer text <p>We have a range of metrics which we monitor to assess the success of our work to reduce alcohol harm, including the Health Survey for England. The Government takes a wide-ranging approach to addressing alcohol-related harms, including promoting the United Kingdom’s Chief Medical Officer’s low risk drinking guidance. Approximately 80% of adults drink within the guidelines of 14 units of alcohol a week.</p><p>Population level alcohol consumption has remained stable over recent years. Among children aged 11 to 15 years old, alcohol consumption has decreased significantly in the last 20 years. However, while we are seeing an increasing number of people drinking at lower levels or abstaining, we have also seen more people drinking at higher-risk levels. As a result, some indicators of harm have increased, and we are committed to addressing these, including through the establishment of alcohol care teams in the 25% acute hospitals in England with the greatest need, through the NHS Long Term Plan.</p><p>Community treatment for alcohol dependence is highly effective. In 2020/21, 62% of people in alcohol-only treatment completed treatment free of dependence, the highest completion rate for any substance misuse group.
