<p>As a matter of long standing policy and practice, the UK will neither confirm nor
deny whether an extradition request has been made or received until such time as a
person is arrested in relation to the request.</p><p>Between 2010 – 2016, 22 people
were arrested in relation to extradition requests from the UAE to the UK. In the same
period, 1 individual was extradited from the UK to the UAE, with the remaining cases
discharged by the courts or still pending.</p><p>In regards to the cost to the public
purse for legal aid for such requests, the Legal Aid Agency and Scottish Legal Aid
Board does not collect data in the form requested.</p>
