answer text The tragic loss of life on Malaysian Airlines flight MH17 has brought into sharp focus the consequences of Russia’s destabilisation of eastern Ukraine. EU sanctions are in direct response to Russia's illegal annexation of Crimea, with the option of increasingly severe restrictive measures if Russia does not desist from its policies to destabilise Ukraine and support separatists in the east. By imposing sanctions, we have demonstrated our willingness to use economic levers to influence Russia’s behaviour. We have no wish to isolate Russia, nor to see the Russian people suffer as a result of the unlawful actions of their leaders. The international community cannot stand by, however, and ignore attacks upon Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity. more like this

answer text The Government has provided £23 million in immediate assistance for Iraq to provide clean water and sanitation, essential medicine and funding for NGOs and charities. This has been disbursed based on need, not by religion or ethnicity. However a great deal has gone to Christian and Yazidi communities, including 80 tonnes dropped by the RAF to refugees while trapped on Mount Sinjar. We are also providing military assistance to the Kurdish Peshmerga forces fighting ISIL as set out in the Prime Minister’s statement on 1 September so that they can restore control over the areas taken by ISIL. The RAF continue to carry out surveillance flights to provide greater situational awareness. I visited Iraq in late August and pressed the Prime Minister-designate Haider Al-Abadi to ensure his new government in Iraq would ensure the protection of all minorities, promote human rights and reassert the rule of law. more like this

answer text
a) With regard to Albania, our positive bilateral relations means the UK is seen by Albania as partner of choice across a number of reform areas, which frequently results in commercial contracts for UK businesses. Crown Agents' contract to reform the customs administration is a good example of this. More broadly, our Embassy advises and assists UK businesses who are interested in investing or operating in Albania, and is active in promoting opportunities.

For example, our Embassy has provided advice to British companies in the telecommunications, oil and gas, mining, pipeline, flight training, pharmaceutical, travel, engineering, and consultancy sectors. In addition our Embassy maintains good relationships with local foreign investor associations to whom referrals for advice are made.

b) The Foreign and Commonweath Office (FCO) is active in promoting the UK's trading relationship with Montenegro through FCO-funded projects that help create an environment in which strong economic relations can thrive. These include projects aimed at: strengthening Montenegro's rule of law framework; fighting corruption; tackling tax fraud; and increasing transparency. Additionally, our Embassy in Montenegro facilitates cooperation between UK businesses and their Montenegrin counterparts. A recent example of successful trade relations between businesses from the two countries is Porto Montenegro – a sea-front development in Tivat worth more than €180 million, in which more than 50 British companies were involved.

answer text
We will continue to uphold British sovereignty by challenging and protesting each and every unlawful incursion into British Gibraltar Territorial Waters. We will also continue to lodge formal diplomatic protests about delays at the border.

In addition to these formal measures, we will continue to make representations to the Spanish government at the highest level, making clear the damage that unlawful incursions and disproportionate measures at the border cause to our bilateral relationship.

The Prime Minister, my right hon. Friend the Member for Witney (Mr Cameron) has spoken twice to the President of the European Commission, Jose Manuel Barroso, about delays at the border. As a result of those conversations, the Commission sent a monitoring mission to the border and we now expect the Commission to insist that Spain implements the recommendations it received on improving the flow of people and traffic.

We do not rule out further measures. However, it is important that we act in ways that do not make life still more difficult for businesses and ordinary citizens in Gibraltar. We are continuing to seek a way forward on the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs, my right hon. Friend the Member for Richmond (Yorks) (Mr Hague) proposal for ad hoc talks as the best means of discussing and resolving issues of concern.

Both signalled their willingness to work with partners to combat Boko Haram. On 12 June in London, the Cameroonian Foreign Minister attended a Ministerial meeting on security in Nigeria, hosted by the Foreign Secretary.
