Friend the Member for Richmond (Yorks) (Mr Hague) made a statement on 23 June expressing his concerns and urging the Egyptian Government to demonstrate its commitment to freedom of expression by reviewing this case as a matter of urgency. <br><br>The Egyptian Ambassador Ashraf el-Kholy was summoned to the Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) on 23 June. FCO Political Director, Simon Gass told the Egyptian Ambassador that the British Government was deeply concerned by the verdicts, and with the procedural shortcomings of the trials. The British Ambassador to Egypt also raised this issue in Cairo with the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs on 24 June. We also use our global network of embassies and missions on a daily basis to take forward this work. We do not record time spent on disarmament specifically, therefore we will not be reporting separately on the costs of this work in the Annual Reports and Accounts. We welcome the Bangladesh government's assurances that they are committed to protecting human rights and recognise the positive progress that has been made across a range of social development indicators.</p><p>However, allegations of extrajudicial killings, enforced disappearances and human rights abuses are deeply concerning. We regularly raise our human rights concerns with the Bangladesh government. The Senior Minister of State, my noble Friend the right hon. Baroness Warsi last raised reports of extrajudicial killings and disappearances with the Bangladesh High Commissioner on 13 May. We are taking action in three areas: promoting political unity among those who support a democratic Iraqi state and regional stability, offering assistance where appropriate, and alleviating humanitarian suffering.</p><p>Tackling the threat from foreign extremists currently operating as part of Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) is a priority.</p><p>We have pledged £5m in direct support to Iraq.
