answer text <p>The UK supports low carbon development though the International Climate Fund to help the poorest countries boost their economies and tackle poverty. Overall, the ICF makes up 7% of the UK aid budget.</p><p> </p><p>Of the total ICF budget 55% has been allocated to climate mitigation programmes, which are predominately related to clean energy, as well as energy efficiency and related activities.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p>DFID will coordinate and scale up efforts to deliver energy to the 1.2 billion people worldwide with no access to electricity, with a particular focus on the more than 660 million people in Africa without access.</p> more like this

answer text <p>DFID funds a number of projects which support deaf people, including through Sense International and the Disability Rights Fund, which supports Deaf People’s Organisations in a number of countries including Rwanda and Uganda. DFID advocates for the use of the Washington Group Questions as a method of disaggregating data by disability. The questions can give policy makers a better understanding of the number and situation of deaf people as well as those with other impairments. DFID is implementing its disability framework, published in December 2014. The framework sets out how DFID will make its policies and programmes more inclusive of all people with disabilities.</p> more like this

answer text <p>The UK Government does not promote or support abortion on the grounds of gender. The practice of sex selection is not caused by the availability of abortion services or technologies but is a consequence of deep rooted discrimination against women, poverty and cultural preference for sons. Our work on girls' education, women's empowerment, skills and jobs aims to increase the ‘value’ of girls and women in society and therefore tackle the pressures and incentives that drive preferences for male children.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p>The UK has never supported or funded the one child policy and closed its bilateral aid programme to China in March 2011. In India, our partners are strongly committed to implementing India’s 1994 National Pre-Conception and Pre-natal Diagnostic Techniques Regulation Act, which bans the use of medical technologies for sex selection purposes.</p> more like this
