answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 29/03/2018 answer text <p>The Department for Transport has provided £0.598 million since 2016 to the City of York Council to help repair potholes and to stop them forming, as well as to improve the resilience of the roads for which they are responsible. This funding is enough to help repair over 11, 900 potholes. It is therefore for the City of York Council to consider the cost of dualling and upgrading the A1238 in York. Only accidents where the police attended the scene and reported at least one contributory factor are included. A total of 73% of accidents reported to the police in 2016 met these criteria.</p><p> </p><p>Contributory factors (CFs for short) provide some insight into why and how road accidents occur. They are designed to give the key actions and failures that led directly to the actual impact to aid investigation of how accidents might be prevented. When police officers attend the scene of an accident, they are able to select up to six factors they believe contributed to the accident (for each vehicle and casualty involved). Please note that this does not assign blame for the accident to any specific road user, but gives an indication of which factors the attending officer thought contributed to the accident. Some of these may have been based on a driver’s own declaration regarding the standard of their vision.</p><p> </p><p>Some Group 2 drivers may have been revoked or refused entitlement to drive both Group 1 and Group 2 vehicles. Therefore, there may be some duplication in the figures. Also, the medical standards for driving Group 2 vehicles are more stringent than those for Group 1. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 25/05/2018 answer text <p>In addition to a share of the formula distribution of the National Productivity Investment Fund (NPIF) in 2017/18 of £626,000, plus Integrated Transport Block funding for £1.57m in 2017/18 and 2018/19, all of which could be used for projects to ease congestion, the City of York Council was awarded a further £2.845m in October 2017 through a competition for NPIF funding.</p><p> </p><p>The NPIF project in York, the Smart Travel Evolution Programme (STEP) will provide a city-wide digital platform supporting transport data collection and analysis, real-time transport modelling and travel information.
