	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 18/04/2024 answer text <p>Regulations which widened potential Pneumoconiosis etc. (Workers’ Compensation) Act 1979 scheme entitlement to include sufferers of unilateral diffuse pleural thickening and asbestos-related primary carcinoma of the lung (without asbestosis) came into force on 23 February 2024. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 16/04/2024 answer text <p>The Department is advised by the Industrial Injuries Advisory Council (IIAC), an independent scientific body, on changes to the list of occupational diseases for which Industrial Injuries Disablement Benefit (IIDB) can be paid. IIAC is currently considering whether there is a link between certain neurodegenerative diseases and professional sportspeople.</p><p> </p><p>IIAC has reviewed over 100 studies relating to ALS (amyotrophic lateral sclerosis) and will need to give more consideration to the evidence before it can make a decision. Whilst we recognise the importance of early identification of autism, a diagnosis is not required to be eligible for reasonable adjustments and the provision of workplace support. These are made, in line with the requirements of the Equality Act 2010, based on functional need.</p><p> </p><p>We are encouraging employers to adopt more neuro-inclusive working practices, which benefit neurodiverse employees irrespective of whether they have a diagnosis. The Buckland Review into Autism Employment, published on 28 February this year, has created a focus for action to improve the recruitment and retention of autistic people. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 06/03/2024 answer text <p>The Department of Health and Social Care continue to identify menopause as a priority area in the second year of the Women’s Health Strategy, and Government more widely sees women’s health, and particularly menopause, as an essential factor when supporting the recruitment and retention of older women in the workforce.</p><p>Helen Tomlinson - Head of Talent (UK &amp; Ireland) at The Adecco Group - was appointed to the voluntary role of Government’s Menopause Employment Champion on 6 March 2023 by the Department for Work and Pensions and is working closely with the Minister for Disabled People, Health &amp; Work. The Menopause Champion is driving awareness of issues surrounding menopause in the workplace; encouraging employers to develop policies that create a more supportive environment to help women stay in work and progress.</p><p>On World Menopause Day (18 October 2023), Government launched the <a href="https://helptogrow.campaign.gov.uk/menopause-and-the-workplace/" target="_blank">Menopause Resources Hub</a> on the <strong>Help to Grow</strong> portal - new guidance providing businesses, large and small, with the resources they need to help educate their organisation and workers about the menopause.</p><p>The report <em>“No Time to Step Back”</em> summarises the work of Helen Tomlinson in the first six months after her appointment and highlights progress made by businesses during this time. As part of this, the Government has committed to establishing a new fund, which will be launched in 2025 following design and development work and close engagement with disabled people. Importantly, this will ensure that we create a long term solution that meets the needs of its users and learns lessons from previous elected office funds.</p><p>In the meantime, while this work is underway, the Disability Unit will develop and publish new guidance by summer 2024 on how political parties can best support disabled candidates.
