	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 26/04/2016 answer text <p>The effects of climate change continue to be taken into account within policy making across Defra and all levels of Government and within the broad range of related communications activities. Targeted communications closely tied to specific climate threats help those affected to understand potential impacts and the practical actions that they can take to increase their resilience and adapt. For instance, the Environment Agency have been ‘geo-targeting’ people in specific high flood risk locations via Facebook and other services to promote the benefits of and sign up to the free flood warning service.</p><p> </p><p>Government will be publishing the second UK Climate Change Risk Assessment in 2017 to be followed by the second National Adaptation Programme report and will, as part of that process, consider the need for further public communications on the effects of climate change in the UK.</p><p> </p> answering member constituency Penrith and The Border answering member printed Rory Stewart question first answered 26/04/2016 11:05:33 answering member 4137 label Biography information for Rory Stewart

	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 30/09/2019 answer text <p>The UK has just been nominated to host COP 26, next year’s crucial UN climate change conference, in partnership with Italy. The main summit, the largest the UK will have hosted, will be held in Glasgow and will be the culmination of a year of activity, raising awareness of the climate action in regions and cities across the whole country.</p><p> </p><p>The first phase of this landmark year will launch at Green GB &amp; NI week early next year, where we will showcase the opportunities, benefits and challenges of reducing our emissions to net zero, ending the UK’s contribution to climate change whilst growing our low carbon economy.</p><p> </p><p>The first Green GB &amp; NI week saw over 100 events held across the UK including business panels, webinars and a range of community events, alongside Government announcements and over 60 business pledges worth millions to cut emissions while continuing to grow the green economy.</p><p> </p> answering member constituency Spelthorne answering member printed Kwasi Kwarteng question first answered 30/09/2019 16:43:29 answering member 4134 label Biography information for Kwasi Kwarteng
