star this property answer text <p>The second Cycling and Walking Investment Strategy (CWIS2), published in July 2022, included an estimate of the total financial resources across government that would be invested in active travel over the 4-year period between April 2021 and March 2025. This estimate will be updated in the next Cycling and Walking Investment Strategy and associated report to Parliament to take account of developments across various funding streams, including the change to the dedicated capital funding budgets for active travel for 2023/24 and 2024/25 announced on 9 March 2023.</p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>The Department for Transport is currently undertaking a post-Autumn Statement business planning process to determine future budgets for the 2023/24 financial year and onwards. Active Travel Fund 4 was therefore launched as a one-year fund for 2022/23 to ensure that Local Authorities are not delayed in delivering active travel infrastructure. The Department will explore options for a multi-year funding round once future active travel budgets are decided.</p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>The Government published its plan for tackling roadside nitrogen dioxide (NO2) concentrations in 2017. This has been underpinned with £883m of dedicated funding to help local authorities develop and implement local NO2 air quality plans and support those affected by these plans. This sits alongside significant investment to support the transition to cleaner, more sustainable transport, including funding to kickstart a cycling and walking revolution and £320 million invested so far to support zero emission buses as part of a step-change in investment into bus services.</p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>The Government aims to position the UK as the best place in the world to develop, manufacture and use zero exhaust emissions vehicles and ensure that the cleanest conventional vehicles are driven on our roads.</p><p>Innovation and a strong R&amp;D ecosystem is key to this. Government is delivering:</p><p> </p><ul><li>Innovate UK grants in emerging technologies which reduce non-exhaust emissions such as new tyre and brake designs.</li><li>An investment of £1.5 billion through the Advanced Propulsion Centre and Faraday Battery Challenge to research, develop and commercialise low carbon and zero emission automotive technologies.</li><li>The zero emission vehicle (ZEV) mandate, which will increase the UK’s supply of ZEVs, create thousands of new jobs and put our industry at the forefront of this global transition by encouraging new investments in infrastructure.</li></ul><p> </p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>HMRC have to balance processing repayment claims quickly with protecting the public purse from incorrect or fraudulent claims. In order to do this they undertake a number of automated and manual checks. Currently, owing to the effects of COVID-19 and the introduction of various Government schemes to support taxpayers, HMRC are seeing an increase in the number of repayment claims within the Self-Assessment system. HMRC aim to provide a fair and consistent service to all taxpayers while prioritising the most vulnerable where appropriate. star this property answer text <p>To ensure that firms are encouraged to keep employees as demand returns, the Chancellor announced the Job Retention Bonus in the Plan for Jobs on 8 July.</p><p>Alongside other conditions, to be eligible, the employees for which the employer will receive the grant will need to have been continuously employed until 31 January 2021 and still be employed by the same employer as of 31 January 2021. Employees cannot be serving a contractual or statutory notice period, that started before 1 February 2021, for the employer making a claim.</p><p>Full guidance about the Job Retention Bonus will be published at the end of September.</p><p> </p> more like this
