It also clashes with the location of the permanent Princes Quay Bridge.</p><p> </p><p>In the short term we will work closely with Hull County Council, to increase awareness of the alternative Humber Dock Street pedestrian crossing by providing additional signage and information.</p><p> </p><p>In the medium term Highways England are investigating whether construction of the Princes Quay Bridge could begin in advance of the main A63 Castle Street improvement scheme works currently programmed for Spring 2020. This is part of the current £15 billion investment in England’s motorways and major ‘A’ roads. The section from Junctions 18 to 20 is expected to complete later this year. Work on the Junctions 20 to 25 section is anticipated to start in 2019/20. Details of the areas where DfT funding has been allocated can be found at: <a href="http://maps.dft.gov.uk/funding-for-sustainable-travel/index.html" target="_blank">http://maps.dft.gov.uk/funding-for-sustainable-travel/index.html</a></p><p> </p><p>Southampton received £4.947m from the Local Sustainable Transport Fund between 2011 and 2016 for a range of measures to reduce carbon which included walking and cycling initiatives, and will receive a further £2.3m from the Access Fund between 2017 and 2020.</p><p> </p><p>In addition, Southampton Central station benefited from a £150,000 cycle-rail grant in 2012/13, and the Department has funded around £220,000 worth of Bikeability cycle training in Southampton over the last five years.</p><p> </p><p>Southampton has also received funding over the last five years through the Government’s Local Growth Fund, Highways Maintenance Block and the Integrated Transport Block. Privately owned car parks are not subject to the provisions of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 and the terms and conditions under which they are operated are a matter for the car park owner.
