star this property answer text <p>The Royal Military Academy Sandhurst (RMAS) is proud of its illustrious history of training Officer Cadets (OCdts) from Afghanistan, with 74 having attended between 1975 and August 2021.</p><p> </p><p>All eligible Afghans who attended RMAS were granted sponsorship under Operation PITTING, including those who did not complete the Commissioning Course and those who commenced training after August 2021. However, due to the volume and complexity of relocation applications, it is not currently possible to confirm how many of the OCdts or their dependants were evacuated and are now residing in the UK.</p><p> </p><p>The Defence Afghan Relocation and Resettlement team continue to work closely with RMAS to provide support to all eligible Afghan OCdts who are entitled to relocate to the UK.</p><p> </p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>Under Categories 1-2 of the Afghan Relocations and Assistance Policy only current or former Locally Employed Staff that were employed by Her Majesty's Government (HMG) or who were contracted to provide linguistic services in support of UK Armed Forces would be considered eligible for relocation to the UK.</p><p>There is some discretion under Category 4 of the ARAP to consider, on a case-by-case and exceptional basis, those who worked in meaningful enabling roles alongside HMG, in extraordinary and unconventional contexts, and where a responsible HMG unit builds a credible case for consideration under the scheme.</p><p>Individuals may also be eligible for the Afghan Citizens' Resettlement Scheme (ACRS) now up and running under the auspices of the Home Office. Through the ACRS, the UK will relocate up to 20,000 at risk Afghans so they can rebuild their lives in safety.</p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>Following the commitments made in the Defence Command Paper in support of the UK’s Indo-Pacific tilt, the period since 16 March 2021 has seen an increase in both MOD personnel and MOD assets permanently deployed to the Indo-Pacific region.</p><p> </p><p>This increase in personnel supports the expansion of the UK’s Defence Network, including the establishment of a British Defence Staff for Oceania, in Canberra and Defence Advisor and Attaché posts in Fiji and the Philippines respectively.</p><p> </p><p>Over the same period, the number of assets in the region has also increased. Following the conclusion of the Carrier Strike Group deployment, HMS Spey and Tamar were permanently stationed in the region at the end of 2021.</p><p> </p> more like this
