star this property answer text <p>As of 12 July, 2018, fourteen publicly-owned buildings (including schools and hospitals) have failed large-scale system tests on their cladding systems. One building has now completed the remediation process, including removal and replacement of its aluminium composite material cladding. The other building owners are working with the relevant fire and rescue service and other specialists to consider remedial work, and are taking account of building users’ needs when they do so. We are not aware of any high-rise care homes with aluminium composite material cladding systems.</p><p>We are working with the Department of Health and Social Care, NHS Improvement and Department for Education to ensure that appropriate remediation steps are being taken on public buildings.</p><p> </p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>We issued unambiguous advice to building owners over 18 months ago to reinforce existing building safety requirements which state only materials which are of limited combustibility or have passed a BS 8414 test should be used on buildings. <a href="https://assets.publishing.service.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/765761/Expert_Panel_advice_note_on_non-ACM.pdf" target="_blank">https://assets.publishing.service.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/765761/Expert_Panel_advice_note_on_non-ACM.pdf </a></p><p><br> Building owners should reassure themselves that any cladding used on their buildings is of limited combustibility or has passed a BS 8414 test. If not, building owners should take action to make the building safe.</p><p><br> The large scale (BS 8414) test referred to in the article was commissioned by a third party. The details of the test are commercially confidential. The Department is not party to the detail of the class of High Pressure Laminate (HPL) or type of system tested. <br> <br> The Department has commissioned a full-scale BS 8414 test on HPL panels with non-combustible insulation. When the results are available they will inform whether any additional action is necessary over and above the advice already issued.</p>

star this property answer text <p>Across England, we are currently supporting 48 locally-led garden communities, to be exemplars of high quality, good design and best practice.</p><p>These places will encourage strong social connections through vibrant spaces with mixed community use and healthy places that take a holistic approach to tackling wellbeing priorities. To date we have provided £38 million in capacity funding which includes early support to fund dedicated staff teams, key studies and assessments to underpin delivery of our garden towns and villages.</p><p>My Department and Homes England are exploring an effective means of sharing learning and good practice on tackling loneliness and social isolation through design and planning approaches with professional and accredited bodies.</p> more like this
