We announced on 7 October that Government would invest £1 million in a second pocket parks programme to create new parks and also provide support to maintain and improve existing parks to help bring existing parks back into safe and regular use.</p><p>The Government will shortly be publishing a prospectus, inviting bids for funding from across the England. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 28/06/2018 answer text <p>This government remains clear that one person without a home is one too many and we are committed to preventing and reducing homelessness and rough sleeping.</p><p>As well as allocating over £1.2 billion to tackle all forms of homelessness over the spending review period, the government has also taken forward a number of important actions to specifically prevent and reduce the levels of youth homelessness.</p><p>The Homelessness Reduction Act, which came into force in April this year, bolsters the support offer for families, care leavers and 16-17 year olds by ensuring that there are more opportunities for local authorities to put in place bespoke interventions to either prevent homelessness from happening in the first place, or relieve them from a homelessness crisis where it does occur.</p><p>Alongside legislative changes, we have also published revised guidance to make clear the respective duties of children’s services and housing services to secure or provide accommodation for 16 and 17 year old children who are homeless or in need of accommodation.</p><p>In addition, the government’s rough sleeping strategy, which will set out how the government will meet its manifesto commitments of halving rough sleeping by 2022, and ending it by 2027, will include specific action around tackling youth homelessness. The technical consultation which closed on 26 November sets out how the Government intends to reform the system. The consultation document details proposals for banning leasehold houses and restricting ground rents in the future.</p><p>The Government is also clear that existing unfair lease terms have no place in the housing market. It is right that developers who sold leaseholds with onerous terms should support their customers to amend such lease terms. Some developers have introduced assistance schemes which is welcome. The law is clear that households with dependent children should only be accommodated in B&amp;B in an emergency and then for no longer than 6 weeks</p><p>Our new Homelessness Advice and Support Team, drawn from local authorities and the homelessness sector, is providing support to local authorities to help them address their homelessness challenges, including the use of B&amp;B accommodation for families.</p><p>We are taking unprecedented action to change how we tackle homelessness and rough sleeping.
