star this property answer text <p>Contactless Pay-As-You-Go (PAYG) allows passengers ‘tap in’ and ‘tap out’ using a contactless bank card and smart media device, removing the need to queue for a ticket or top-up a smart card before travelling. PAYG will be an additional way for passengers to pay for their travel, with smart card and paper tickets remaining available. We are making changes to simplify fares to ensure PAYG works for passengers and will announce further details in due course.</p><p> </p> more like this

The Department does not plan an assessment of the report on levels of employment in the UK maritime sector, noting the report itself is already highly detailed and provides an employment estimate broken down by role.</p><p>Enhancing the UK’s maritime skills and training offer is at the heart of the Government’s commitment to level up the economy. This objective is supported by the recommendations of the Maritime 2050 People Route Map. To support delivery, the Department commissioned the Maritime Skills Commission to undertake Cadet and Ratings Reviews with the objective of exploring where barriers and opportunities exist to enhance and grow the offer for UK seafarers.</p><p> </p> more like this

As these projects are live and the size of the final programme is still being determined, the costs are not yet known, and funding options continue to be developed and should be finalised in 2024.</p><p>Overall, however, this will be a major investment in the region’s railways.</p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>As part of the West Midlands Trains (WMT) National Rail Contract, WMT is required to provide sufficient depot and stabling facilities for the new Class 730 train fleet and has developed plans to provide these. Work is already underway at Bletchley and should start next year at another site.
