answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 23/07/2018 answer text <p>The table in the attached document shows the Big Lottery Fund spending per capita in each local authority area in <ins class="ministerial">2017-18</ins><del class="ministerial">2016-17</del>. However, this data does not present an accurate comparison of the benefits from Big Lottery Fund spending for several reasons:</p><p>a) Funding is often provided over several years, but the data shows this in the year that the grant is awarded. For example an award of £600,000 for a five year long project, would be reported as £600,000 of funding in year one, and no funding in years two to five.</p><p>b) the data reflects the geographical location of the funding recipient, but many projects reach far beyond the local authority where the funding recipient is located. An extreme example of this is the City of London, which has a small population but which was the location of funding recipients running two large nationwide projects. Conversely, areas that show no funding in <ins class="ministerial">2017-18</ins><del class="ministerial">2016-17</del> have benefited from Big Lottery funded projects which have a primary location elsewhere.</p><p>c) Island communities can also be outliers. DCMS has not estimated total savings delivered to the public purse using Social Impact Bonds since 2010.</p><p> </p><p>Several Social Impact Bond programmes have been independently evaluated and some of these evaluations estimate savings. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 27/11/2018 answer text <p>The Life Chances Fund (LCF) is an £80m fund to help people in society who face the most significant barriers to leading happy and productive lives. It provides top-up contributions to locally commissioned Social impact Bonds (SIBs) that aim to tackle complex social problems.</p><p> </p><p>All of the £80m Life Chances Fund has been awarded in principle to local commissioners, including local authorities and clinical commissioning groups. These commissioners are at various stages of designing and delivering the projects. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 18/12/2018 answer text <p>The Charity Commission for England and Wales publishes annual transparency data, which includes analyses of its statutory inquiry, compliance and monitoring casework according to the information on the register of charities and submitted by charities in their annual returns.</p><p> </p><p>This includes a breakdown of casework statistics by classification, beneficiary group, income, and the charities’ age (years since registration) and can be seen here: <a href="https://www.gov.uk/government/collections/analysis-of-charities-subject-to-an-inquiry-or-compliance-case#inquiry-case-statistics:-2017-18" target="_blank">https://www.gov.uk/government/collections/analysis-of-charities-subject-to-an-inquiry-or-compliance-case#inquiry-case-statistics:-2017-18</a>.</p><p> </p><p>The Charity Commission does not provide case statistics specifically on charities who promote the use of complementary and alternative medicine. The breakdown includes charities classified as being for ‘advancement of health / saving lives’, but the Commission does not disaggregate this classification any further, and some charities may use or promote CAM therapies as one part of a much wider range of activities.</p><p> </p><p>The Charity Commission has updated its approach to assessing the charitable status of organisations that promote complementary and alternative medicine (CAM) therapies.
