Through this interaction we are able to monitor the progress of rough sleeping responses and support local authorities in obtaining a more detailed picture of rough sleeping in their area. These advisers have been working closely with local authorities with the highest numbers of rough sleepers, who are using our £30 million targeted fund to tackle rough sleeping in their area. The RSI has already made significant progress. Following this engagement and the release of the Strategy, we are implementing the Rapid Rehousing Pathway, of which the Supported Lettings Fund is a key element. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 06/11/2018 answer text <p>The rough sleeping counts or estimates take place between 1 October and 30 November.</p><p>Local authorities have to submit their data using the MHCLG DELTA online system by 14 December.</p><p>4 local authorities to date have submitted their data using this system. This represents a significant increase in support local authorities are able to offer people now and also those at risk this coming winter.</p><p>This funding will go towards over 500 new dedicated homelessness workers and an additional 1,750 bed spaces. In 2010 we overhauled the methodology for counting the number of people sleeping rough, so every council now has to report the scale of the problem in their area. Prior to 2010 figures under-estimated the number as they did not require all local authorities to submit a return. Guidance on this system is published and can be found at:</p><p><a href="https://assets.publishing.service.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/6009/1713784.pdf" target="_blank">https://assets.publishing.service.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/6009/1713784.pdf</a></p><p>The rough sleeping counts and estimates are single night snapshots of the number of people sleeping rough in local authority areas. It is up to local authorities to decide the best way of coming to a robust figure that reflects the number of people sleeping rough. The process for preparing for this is run by Homeless Link, which are funded by my Department to provide independent verification, validation, and guidance to local authorities. Homeless Link verify all street counts, liaising with the Count Coordinator to check that the guidance has been followed in the planning of the count and conduct detailed verification of estimates. Correspondence is therefore primarily between Homeless Link and local authorities. That is why this Government has committed to halving rough sleeping by 2022 and ending it altogether by 2027.</p><p>In order to make an immediate impact, in March this year we announced the new Rough Sleeping Initiative which has allocated £30 million this year at 83 local authorities with high levels of rough sleeping. This is funding over 500 new dedicated homelessness workers and will provide an additional 1,750 bed spaces.</p><p>Last month the Government published the Rough Sleeping Strategy which, building on the work of the Rough Sleeping Initiative, sets out the initial plans to achieving the manifesto commitments. We have worked across Government, with the homelessness sector and local areas to set out our ambitious long-term vision for how both local and central government will work together, based around three core pillars: Prevention, Intervention and Recovery, with a focus on moving to a 'rapid rehousing' approach. The aims of the pillars are to prevent people from rough sleeping, intervene when individuals find themselves in this position and aid whatever recovery they need to help sustain suitable accommodation solutions.</p><p>The Rough Sleeping Strategy details £100 million of investment over the next 2 years to tackle rough sleeping.
