question text	To ask Her Majesty's Government what consideration they have given to implementing the recommendations of the report by the Environment, Transport and Regional Affairs Select Committee The Future for Allotments (HC 560–I, Session 1997–98); and, in particular. the proposal that decisions over commercial use of allotment gardens relating to site shops and sales of surplus produce should be made on a site-by-site basis.

question text	To ask the Secretary of State for Housing, Communities and Local Government, what plans his Department has to work with local authorities to increase the provision of allotments.

answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 03/03/2020 answer text <p>The Government has no plans to work directly with local authorities to increase the provision of allotments.</p><p>However, in February 2020 the Government announced £1.35 million new funding for 68 community-led organisations in England that will, with the support of their local authorities, create new or refurbish existing parks and green spaces across England, many of which include community allotments and orchards as part of their plans.</p><p>This builds on the two previous Pocket Parks programmes the Government has run since 2015, making a total of 352 grants to community groups to create or renovate green spaces and representing a total investment of over £6 million in community green spaces.</p> answering member constituency Middlesbrough South and East Cleveland answering member printed Mr Simon Clarke question first answered 03/03/2020 16:06:28 answering member 4655 label Biography information for Sir Simon Clarke
