During deployments and exercises they are augmented with Regular clinical staff from the Joint Medical Command. At the highest level of readiness, one of these units is able to deploy its lead elements at five days notice.</p><p>The Reserve Field Hospitals' role is to be ready to deploy for enduring operations with a minimum of 18 months notice. This allows sufficient time to prepare both the manpower and equipment for the deployment. Reserves can and do also volunteer as individuals to deploy on operations with Regular units at shorter notice.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p>

answer text <p>The majority of mobile telephones supplied to the Ministry of Defence (MOD) are provided by Vodafone through an enabling arrangement through the Defence Fixed Telecommunications Service (DFTS) contract with BT. A very small number (less than 1%) of mobile telephones are procured outside this arrangement to meet local operational demands, typically at MOD establishments overseas. Until July 2014, the procurement of iPhones required purchase authorisation outside the scope of the DFTS catalogue but, since then, iPhones have been ordered by routine processes via the DFTS catalogue. Monthly network access charges for iPhones are greater than basic mobile telephones. Expenditure on iPhone accounts via the DFTS contract is in the attached table.</p><p> </p><p>It should be noted that iPhones purchased prior to Jan 2010 continue to incur network access charges in the reporting period. The current cost differential is £5 for a basic mobile phone per month and £11.23 for an iPhone.</p><p> </p><p>The annual expenditure on iPhone purchases and network acccess charges via the DFTS contract since January 2010 to October 2014 are shown in the attached table:</p><p> </p><p> </p>

answer text <p>Since 2008 the Royal Navy has contributed to the coalition counter-piracy and counter-terrorism operations commanded by the European Union (EU), NATO, and Combined Maritime Forces (CMF). This has included the contribution of assets; and the provision of the Operational Headquarters and Operational Commander for the EU’s Operation ATALANTA; the NATO Maritime Commander and Maritime Headquarters that has overall command of Operation OCEAN SHIELD; and the Deputy Commander and supporting staff for the CMF. In addition, the Royal Navy maintains a constant presence, including at least one frigate or destroyer, in the Gulf region.
