answer text <p>The responsibility for the Start for Life period from conception until the age of two rests with a number of delivery partners including local authorities, the National Health Service, and the third sector.</p><p>The majority of the £300 million funding announced at the autumn Budget is expected to go to local authorities. However, the Government expects local areas to build on existing best practice in joint commissioning. This will ensure clear accountability as well as more integrated services that benefit families and their babies.</p><p>The Department of Health and Social Care and the Department for Education will work together to determine the best approach to allocating this funding and we will set out further details in due course.</p> more like this

answer text <p>The autumn Budget announced £300 million to transform Start for Life and family help services by creating a network of ‘family hubs’, in addition to investing in tailored breastfeeding services and infant and parent mental health.</p><p>Half of all upper tier local authorities in England will benefit from this investment, ensuring that thousands of families will see an improvement in the quality and accessibility of the services they receive. Whilst this funding will benefit 75 authorities, the evidence and learning from this investment will improve services across England where they are most needed.</p><p>The Department for Health and Social Care and the Department for Education will work together to determine the best approach for selecting which local authorities will receive this funding. answer text <p>Those purchasing tests from private providers have access to the full range of consumer rights and as individuals are contracting a private service, we advise customers to report any issues directly to the test provider. If the issue cannot be resolved, consumers should contact their local trading standards office.</p><p>The Department monitors the performance of all private providers and those with inadequate services receive a five-day warning to demonstrate they have rectified their service and if not, they are removed from the GOV.UK list.</p> more like this

answer text <p>In May 2018 the Government announced £40 million over five years for brain tumour research as part of the Tessa Jowell Brain Cancer Mission through the National Institute for Health Research (NIHR).</p><p> </p><p>Since the announcement of £40 million in May 2018, the NIHR have received 69 brain tumour applications for research funding; 10 of the brain tumour applications have been funded and seven of the brain tumour applications are still under consideration. All applications that are fundable have been funded.</p><p> </p><p>We are relying on researchers to submit high-quality funding proposals and we are working with the Tessa Jowell Brain Cancer Mission towards funding workshops for previously unsuccessful researchers to support them in submitting higher quality research applications.</p> more like this

answer text <p>Feedback is provided to all applicants, shortlisted or rejected, at key decision points in the process. An initial assessment determines whether applications are within the remit and are competitive for a particular programme. If unsuccessful at this point, feedback will be provided and the application can be resubmitted at any time</p><p><br> Stage one applications receive feedback following discussion by the programme’s committee. All applications, whether shortlisted for stage two submission, invited for resubmission at stage one or rejected from the programme, receive feedback. At stage two, comments from external peer reviewers are given to applicants, who are asked to submit their responses. The applications are then reviewed by the Funding Committee. Applicants receive feedback from the Committee if they are rejected.</p><p>We are working with the Tessa Jowell Brain Cancer Mission towards funding workshops for previously unsuccessful researchers to support them in submitting higher quality research applications.</p>

answer text <p>On 9 January 2021, the Government published the UK Rare Diseases Framework, outlining four key priorities to improve the lives of those living with rare diseases such as Corticobasal Degeneration and Progressive Supranuclear Palsy. This includes a priority around increasing awareness amongst healthcare professionals. Pioneering research is included as one of the five underpinning themes in the Framework. The Framework will be followed by specific action plans, detailing how each part of the United Kingdom will meet the shared priorities. The Government has spent £344 million on dementia and neurodegeneration research in the past five years and is currently working to further increase this research at all stages of the translation pathway including medical interventions.</p> more like this
